How did I become Lucid?

Okay, i have quite a long dryspell for both remembering and having lucid dreams. Just recently i have become more determined to practice having lucid dreams. I was determined to have one in around two weeks, so i began doing reality checks regularly. Well last night i had a dream where i was in a large bathroom. It was dark and all i could see was a large mirror, but my reflection was not in it. I thought this was odd. I waited a few more seconds and then my reflection instantly appeared. I can't figure out how i got lucid. To me it seems that i became lucid once something normal happened, or maybe it was the instant reflection that caused me to become lucid. I don't know but i found it odd because all of the reality checks i had been doing never occurred in my dream. Hum? What do you think?

It sounds more like a DILD, a Dream Induced Lucid Dream. Chances are, by doing all those reality checks, you tuned your mind into recognizing oddities, and when you noticed something odd, even though it wasn't what you were doing RCs with, it still made you notice something out of the ordinary. Just keep it up, and you should have more lucids, especially since your starting to notice things that are weird and odd.
