The thing about anything related to dreaming is that it's different for everyone. Some people might not even be able to fall asleep with music playing, while others might fall asleep and then hear it in their dreams and trigger lucidity in that way. :) So, try it out for yourself and see what happens!
:welcome: to DV!
For me, ambient noise, TV's, alarm clocks, music, people yacking... it all can bleed into my dreams. I've never tried using external sound as an induction technique, but I'm sure it's not uncommon.

Music has been used to affect dreams. There are plenty of MP3s and MP4s posted on this forum which have lucid dreaming inductions and/or subliminals imbedded in music that you can listen/fall asleep to.
If you click on the "Search" link next to the "Staff" link above and use the search words "mp3* download" or "mp4* download".. you will be provided with a lot of posts that include mp3s/mp4s that you can download for free.

I listen to either the Jazz or Classical station when I sleep and though it doesn't help my lucidity per say, it can make my dreams more... interesting.
Same for me Vegan. I prefer some kind of instrumental music. If there's vocal parts I concentrate too much on the meaning of the lyrics and it's harder to fall asleep.
My situatuion is the same; it's never triggered lucidity but it does affect events in normal dreams. However, a news report on the radio did trigger lucidity for me once.
Music occasionally seeps into my dreams and affects them.
It probably affects them in more ways than I realize. I prefer classical music to sleep to. I listen to a radio station on low at night. And classical music station DJs aren't all loud and obnoxious like regular station DJs. The ones on the station I listen to talk in calm smooth voices that don't jar me awake when they do their announcing.
Hi and welcome.
I don't use to listen to music while falling asleep. i think the brain have to shut down to go to sleep, shut down all senses and it would be easier if not have some music plaing.
Good Topic!.
I was thinking: I often fall asleep with music. Usually some calm Celtic Blissfull music. But at a given point I black out, fall asleep and cease to hear the music. I confirmed this was true by making an MP3 of 2 minutes of silence, flollowed by churchbells ringing 4 times and playing that MP3 over and over all night on Repeat; I counted everytime I heard the bells ring 4 times, so every 2 minutes. I counted 15 times and then I ceased to hear it. I was asleep.
But perhaps our consciousness fades causing us to stop hearing it, but maybe we DO subconsciously hear it. Maybe that is the perfect time to play MP3s with a voice telling you to question Reality and do Reality Checks; Just like the Omelet du Fromage-episode from Dexter's lab; Could something like that be engraved into the subconscious by playing such messages while asleep?
Worth a try?
I noticed that too, that the music 'stops' at a point just as or just after I fall asleep.
During WILDs this is very evident. Whatever music I was listening to either stopped or, in one instance, changed from classical to country music. I've wondered if this could somehow be forged into a method to get to a WILD.
You listen to music as you go through whatever technique you try to attain lucidity with, and then when you no longer hear the music it's possible that you're dreaming.
The times I have heard music in my dreams it's been early in the morning or during naps. I'm guessing music begins filtering noticably back into our minds a short time before waking?
The effects of music varies for me.
Sometimes I can't Get Relaxed at All.
But Once I Fell asleep Directly in front of a HUGE Speaker system Playing Heavy Metal On Maximum Volume...
That Suprised Me When I Woke Up...
Well. some music can be good to fall sleep with. some calm music.
Perhaps that's why i don't use to listen to music when i fall asleep, cuz i don't listen to calm music.
Relaxing mp3 always boosts my recall.
You can find some great ones in Lucid Aids.
I listen to jazz music every night, but it doesn't really affect me. I've tried to notice when the music stops, but my mind cannot catch it at all(like everything else strange in my dreams...). Im going to try it again though...
