      Helping a partner attain lucidity

Here's something I've come across a number of time with my girlfriend. She can drift in and out of sleep quicker than anyone I've ever known, and as a result she sleep-talks a lot.

I can interact with her while she's sleep-talking. If I go along with what she's saying, she'll talk to me in the context of her dream for awhile and then fade off to silence. But if I talk to her and tell her she's sleep-talking, she'll initially get annoyed and deny she's sleep-talking, and if I press her on it, she accept that she's sleep-talking to me and thus attain lucidity. She'll soon drift off from me and no longer talk, but she reports that the ludidity continues in her dream.

      Anybody have anything similar?

I apparently talk in my sleep, but nothing intelligible unfortunately. Thats a pretty cool trick to have though. Your GF is lucky

Very interesting. I've heard of this before and seen a thread on it too! I believe Tornado Joe had the same experience on here. It'll be interesting to see what she remembers in the morning from the dream too.

oh yeah, I just now remembered my friend telling me I talked to him. I can't remember exactly what I said but I know it was something that actually made sense.

Often I just enjoy messing with her. The whole thing has sometimes gone on for a minute or two, though usually it's maybe 30 seconds.

I might as well give one recent example of this.

Her: Honey, put another log on the fire.
      Me: What fire?
Her: The fire, in the fireplace.
Me: You don't have a fireplace.
      Her: No, your fireplace.
Me: I have gas-logs. You're talking in your sleep, aren't you?
      Her: No, I'm not.
Me: There's no fireplace, no logs, and you're asleep on your couch.
Her: Never mind the log then.
      Me: Thanks, enjoy your dream.
      Her: OK... mumble mumble. [silence]

She always remembers the conversation, and she as often as not tells me she goes back to her dream lucid.

my little sister does that, i love to mess with her too. one time she even sat up in her bed, grabbed a doll and a stuffed bear, and talked about a monster eating a princess. i thought she was awake so i was laughing...and then she just slammed back down on her bed and was out cold.....it was so weird hahaha.
