      SP. Is it common?

I heard about Sleep Paralysis and I have to say... That sounds terrifying. All I know about it is what it is, and I heard that if you lay down on your side it almost never happens (something about cutting off stimuli)
I want to start sleeping on my back because I heard you remember dreams better and I want to know how common SP is.

Yeah I never get SP because I sleep on my side. I want to try and sleep on my back but it's just soo uncomfortable. But I have had it once. Tell you what, I had it before I knew what it was and it was TERRIFYING! I got so scared (but now i'm not since I know it's normal) I couldn't move and I was just laying in bed trying to yell for my mom but I couldn't open my mouth! After a couple minutes of struggling I broke out it. But yeah it was a terrifying experience

      Almost everyone gets SP.

Once you are paralysed you are only moments away from a lucid.

It can be fun if you fully understand that it's not hurting you. It's like being whipped around in a carnival ride. Then again, you might not even feel anything, each experience is different.

What really worries me in the incubus thing. Could I, Should I choose, simply close my eyes. Because what I can't see can't scar me for life.

Sleep paralysis happens every time you go to sleep, you're just not aware of it.
If SP didn't occur, then there's a good chance we'd be acting out all our dreams.

RockNRoller123, unless you have a serious medical condition, you've had SP everynight for your whole life and just never noticed it. And, if you haven't been having SP, you'd know it because you'd be acting out your dreams. SP is just a physical mechanism there to protect you. You're not even going to notice it unless you try to WILD or do some other method that keeps you aware while you fall asleep.

So, if you really are afraid of SP, don't try to WILD. Stick to other methods.

But, honestly, you don't need to be afraid of it. I've felt SP with the hypnogogic hallucinations and images several times. If you do try to WILD and you decide it is too much for you all you have to do is move. That stops it.

And if you are convinced succubi are going to try to hurt you, just say a prayer and relax.

So is SP more subtle lying on your side then your back? Because i never sleep on my back.

Some people say that they get it less when on their back.

I'm not sure it makes a difference.

I read that when your on your side certain stimuli can't get to your brain and
so it happens way less. Unfortunately, your dreams usually aren't as vivid as if
      your back.

Ive only tried it on my back.

I feel like im sinking into the bed, falling at about 100mph.

Then i start feeling the 'waves' of vibration all over. An hearing very loud wind, its like a roller coaster, going up...(not as much wind, not as fast)...going down...(loads of wind, very fast)

I was too scared to try wild. But i just decided to do it, cause i dont like having fears.
It was not at all as i expected. Yes i heard loud wind, yes i felt vibrations, but it was awesome. Just enjoy it, i cant wait for my next wild.

Also, if you really are scared, try going to bed much later, then in the morning, around 9pm, when other people in your house are awake, try it then. If you are tired enough it will work. And if you get scared, then so what? its daytime ;D

Think of it this way, which is scarier, SP or acting out every single thing that you do and say in your dreams IRL?

Everything makes sense once you stop thinking about it

Keep in mind that SP is only frightening if you expect it to be.

If you're too nervous to try it, then don't. Take a few days to reflect on the fact that it is natural, and cannot hurt you.

Once you're more comfortable with the concept, you're ready to try it.

My first SP my eyes were closed and I could see the room and I was looking up as is I was on my back and felt like I was on my back, but when I woke up I was on my side. It was scary because it was hard to breath or move, the next time it happened it was not as scary.

A bit anxious about trying this myself although I 'do' want to..

Just gonna take a few days to reflect on it.. I'm the kind of person who wouldnt be too comfortable being consciously aware yet physically disabled.. Goes against my survival instincts..

Think i'l gradually wean myself in over the next few nights.. maybe let myself get almost to the point of SP and then turn in the bed.. Ya know.. peek through the keyhole of the door a couple of times before I turn the handle and open it..

Definately gonna do a bit of research on it today and gather as much info from other people's experiences as I can.. Think it will help me to get in the right frame of mind so I won't be scared..

      Wish me luck..
