About the hypnagocic imagery (or what it's called), do everyone have it or can you enter a WILD without it?

Not everyone has to have visual hypnagogic imagery. Still. From what i searched in this forums. It seems that half dream states seem to overenhance our senses somehow. But if you usually dont think visually, you do not have to see images. Maybe you will hear sounds. Or feel enhanced tactile sensations. Still some people reported feeling nothing at all. Who knows.

Yeah. I am glad you say that. Dont expect the results to come sooner than in your lets say attempt nr.100. Or so. It will be much lighter to live with real worldview.

Have you tried controlling the hypnogognic imagery? I find it entertaining and can even be more fun than a lucid dream because you can quickly be conscious and then re-enter the unconscious state.

I like to hyp. image doing something (ie. slapping myself or something silly) then wake up and see that I never actually did it. It can be entertaining really.

Do you think, it is difficult to controll imagery? I have some more question concerning this topic.

When to start controlling the imagery?
How does the imagery start for you and how does it advances overtime?
What was your first experiences with hypnagogic imagery?

I've had it ever since I was small. Controlling it can be fun, and it is one of my WILD techniques.

But it is also perfectly possible to WILD with none at all.

I don't think I have ever really experienced HI when I WILD - normally i focus on the sensations and really concentrate everything on these, then WILD through that.

I don't think you can force it. If you don't have any don't worry, the WILD is much more important.

Not so much - I normally work on inducing sensations - kind of like imaging I am sliding head first down a slide, but in my bed, and make my body feel the shifting, and work with these sensations and follow where they take me, this leads excellently to a WILD - albeit a little scary at first, but very successful

I find it about as hard to control as my regular imagination.

I start controlling it once I see it. It is basically constant focus that allows the control. This is a residual effect of the WILD method, I think. I would say it advances over time but it also varies in length.

I really cannot remember my first experience. It is a very sporadic experience and I would say that everyone has experienced it since birth. Whether or not you remember them or can control them is another topic.

Salvador Dali used hypnagogic imagery as a creative source, and many of his paintings were inspired by HI. He invented a technique for accessing HI. He would be sitting in a chair holding a spoon in his hand so that it was positioned over a tin plate on the floor. As he fell asleep he would drop the spoon which would fall down and hit the plate. The clattering would awaken him at the exact moment when he was in the hypnagogic stage so that he could memorize the images.
