      influencing your subconscious while dreaming

Ok, I've been wondering for a while about things like autosuggestion, RCs and MILD. They all depend on getting certain ideas ingrained into your subconscious, but what better time to communicate an idea to your subconscious than in a dream? I'm sure it must be possible to communicate things to your subconscious by influencing the dream world, unfortunately all my LDs so far have ended in seconds so i have been unable to experiment with this.
To be honest, i'm not sure exactly what we should try doing in our dreams to help induce more, but there must be something. One good idea i did have in relation to this is making a transition area in your dreamworld for use when MILDing. It could be somewhere simple yet distinctive, so that it would be easy to visualize and you would only associate it with your dreamworld. If you included a certain symbol in the transition area/room, a large key for example, then that could remind you to do a RC and you may only need to think about the symbol to MILD.
I am sure there is more than this that can be done, but as i said i haven't had a lengthy LD yet so if more experienced LDers could try this out then we might eventually get a new technique out of this.

I don't know if this has been suggested before, but i thought i might as well put it up.

All comments, criticism and horrendously offending insults are warmly welcomed, just as long as all insults are aimed at me and not others posting on this thread.

hehe...heh..., I don't know if your specific technique has been previously suggested or if anyone has tried it before but hopefully if someone has they'll reply.

I appreciate your posting and welcome to Dream Views.

I've thought about this too. LaBerge says some people have luck asking dream characters to remind them when they're dreaming. I have yet to try this, but it's on my to-do list.

I've been thinking about this too lately.
Has anyone tried to ask a recurring DC to remind you that you're dreaming, and has it ever worked?

      thanks for the replies,

if u look on LD4all there is a huge thread on CALD (character aided lucid dreaming). It isn't about using DCs to get you lucid but instead characters you create while awake. It's a really interesting thread to read, even if you don't try it yourself. I think it's sticky so it should be easy to find.

Nope, just an American of Irish descent. I do speak Irish though. In fact, I'm on my way to Irish class tonight. Where in the west are you from?

I have personally used the DC method to remind me I'm dreaming, but the DC often stops appearing. To be honest, I've never understood the problem with knowing you're going to sleep. You're in bed, and whenever I am going to sleep, I make a mental note "I am going to sleep and I am going to have a dream". It's worked for me for over 10 years, and the only time it fails it when I don't keep a dream journal and/or don't participate in LD forums.
