My LD Aid I'm Trying Out

I think I may have read this on the forum once. I've been having a dry spell, so I turn on my watch setting that beeps every hour. Every beep i do a reality check. Then I put my watch under my pillow when I sleep.

I tried this last night and it didn't work. I was wondering if anyone had success with this method or whether this method makes sense.

Hey Funnel I'm trying something real similiar to this in stead of a beep however I set vibrating alarms on my phone and reality check each time. I've tried it while I slept but it usually wakes me up. I started a thread like yours and I got a good reply that said I should try it with a WBTB. Maybe It would work with your way too. At the very least your way is a good way to increase the frequency of your RC's

Once I tried setting my watch on my nightstand and setting it to countdown an hour, because I wanted to take a nap. The problem was, even though the watch beeps like crazy for a regular alarm, for the countdown, it only beeps once. This wasn't enough to get me up, and I ended up oversleeping.

The problem I've had with audio cues is that I think my ears shut down when I'm sleeping. Of course, a loud or persistent alarm will still wake me up, but when I try to listen to a LD induction MP3, even during a WBTB, I have to tune it out in order to fall asleep, which defeats the whole purpose. That doesn't really have anything to do with your problem, so anyway, what I would suggest is experiment with the volume and the number of beeps. Your watch probably doesn't do that, but you could try something else, like an mp3 player with an alarm function or a palm pilot. Eventually you'll come up with something that works.

Also, maybe you just haven't been at it long enough. It takes a full month I read somewhere to start a new habit.

I wouldn't expect it to work on the first night. Very few techniques give lucidity on the first night (if they do, I'd say it's a fluke). Try it for a week. Consistence is key! Or is it persistence? Whenever learning a new technique, I'd say the key is both.

Even if you hear it in your dream, you may not react the first few times. Good luck!

So I've tried this for a bit and I've had no progress. I'm guessing that the longer I do it, the more I will tune out the beeps all together. Alas, I need a new method
