Yeah, I wouldn't worry about giving them your cc# if that's what you're talking about, but last I knew they didn't require it. They may have changed that policy for age verification purposes, but if they still allow unverified accounts, it just means there will be some areas (mostly Mature themed) that you can't get into until you provide payment verification. It's both to cover their butt on minors and an anti-griefing measure.

Oh, and Serith, I'll test out the HUD and if anyone has trouble making their own, just IM Vudu Suavage and I'll pass it to you.

Serith, I set up the HUD object, but I think it needs some kind of kill event on the hovertext (I'm scriptarded or I'd do it myself).

I had a char there but the damned thing wouldn't ever load so I never got around to checking the place out.

So what's the point of this lucid check thing during second life? Is it that you play it so often that you start dreaming about it all the time, and start reality checking in dream and out?

Are you talking about his free course?

If so, he plans on talking to people through it. Apparently you can use it like a phone at times. This isn't needed though, like he told me.

And yes I was going to join his course but then I asked him to take me off the list because I coudn't be bothered with it.

It should have one, I suspect the problem is just that I have it set to stay on for too long. It's at two minutes now, but 40 seconds is probably fine. Find the line near the top that says llSleep(120); , and change the 120 to however many seconds you want the words to stay visible. Yeah, I just checked, and that's all it is.

yeah i have an account but it kills my computer so i deleted the program. never thought about using it for LD sim.

Interesting how everyone got talking about this recently.
I'm thinking of trying to build up a business in one of these virtual worlds. Probably SL, because you can create items, pets, etc. Right up my alley.
And I can do it with my polyphasic sleep - gives me time at night.

But another I'm probably going to try is Entropia Universe (or Project Entropia)
It has a sci-fi feel, and you can go on missions to kill aliens.
It's the primary competitor to SL, looks prettier, nice story to it, but has negatives too (e.g. I don't think it has a scripting system with prims, etc)

It also has a RCE (real currency economy, I think?) so money there is money in the real world (with an exchange rate)

I've done some research, so if anyone wants to know more about the other options out there, and their pros/cons, say something. E.g. metaplace, twinity

And for those old-timers in SL or Entropia, I'd really, really appreciate some friendship or even mentoring in them. I'm a complete noob, in practice.
