Amount of time you spend on RC's?

Typically in a 24 hour period i would account my RC's to 15 or 20 easily. Some times many more. My reality checks are constant throughout the day. Though when i complete one, it is only a matter of seconds. I plug my nose, examine my hands, examine my enviroment, text, clock, etc etc. Not all of them every time though. Stephen LaBerg on the other hand reccomends doing 15 minute long reality checks. So i ask, how long do you typically spend on reality checks?

Sometimes I'm having a day when I have just had a lucid, so I am motivated all over again and end up doing a WHOLE LOT MORE, 30-40.
Or somedays I almost completely forget and do under 5 aday.
What reality check do you generally do?
"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to walk from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where—" said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you walk," said the Cat.
"—so long as I get somewhere," Alice added as an explanation.
"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "If only you walk long enough."

None at all - and when I adopt people, I avoid RCs as part of the teaching of lucid dreaming.

I don't like them, they're stupid and they never work. Unless you somehow stop thinking about them. Because I believe that when you don't think about stuff for a while, you dream about it. But it's difficult to stop thinking about reality checking, but you do them randomly at times when you think you should. You forget most of the time. I'm guessing it's just for people with a certain kind of mind that can be bothered with keeping it up.

People may agree or disagree with one or two points that I typed up there.

But the main point is, it's crap for people who are lazy.

So far it has never made me lucid. But it's made me do another reality check which isn't really a reality check, but an effort of dream controll!

I've just been in the habit of reality checking for about a week now, but I am getting getter at it. I try to do about 50 reality checks a day. Especially:
      1. When something feels weird/confusing
      2. I get scared/heart starts racing
      3. I hurt myself

Jdeadevil, I wish you wouldn't make such an effort insulting reality checks because they actually benefit most people who practice lucid dreaming. It sounds like you're just bitter that they don't work for you even though they work for the majority? Anyways, sorry if I sound like a jerk.

P.S. Do a reality check right now.. even you Jdeadevil. LMAO

      Do a reality check.

Lol, well I'm sorry. But that's exactly what I'm saying, they don't work for me. And they may not work for other people. If people can do it, it's quite easy. But for people who can't be arsed picking up their hand every five minutes just to check if they're doubtfully dreaming, it's quite difficult because you'll end up checking the time constantly. You don't sound like a jerk, you're asking for reasons why I complain.

Ok... But... not one of you answered my question. LOL. Again, how long do you spend on them? 10 seconds, 30 seconds, or full blown 15 minute reality checks.

Let me elaborate. The reason i ask is because i am wandering if it is better to do, say five 15 minute long rc's a day as stephen laberg suggests, or on the other hand do fifty 10 second ones.... you see?

How long do I look at my hands in reality checking? About ten or fifteen seconds.

I do RCs for like, 2 seconds, so people don't wonder what the heck I'm holding my nose for and start to think I'm mentally retarded. 20+ times for me a day, though.

Oops, sorry, I misread your question. I thought it was HOW MANY reality checks.. not HOW LONG. lol
My reality checks are short, less than three seconds. That's all it takes to become lucid in a dream.

      Do a reality check.

I'm doing the 'pinch your nose' one a bit more often now. I find it easier than looking at my hands.

      Takes about a second.

I'm doing lots of short ones. Mainly the hand check, watch/time check and the nose pincher.
