      Question Spinning for Clarity?

So yeah, I'm a noob, and I searched but I'm not finding...

How do you do this clarifying spinning thing, technique-wise? Is the idea to spin around like a top? You know, "look Ma! I'm going to make myself dizzy and queasy" little kid style? Or is it more of a casual look around you?

I ask because I tried last night for the first time and things got much LESS lucid - instead I lapsed into a false awakening where I thought my attempted spinning had made me get physically turned around in bed - head where the feet should be! Also, not being a little kid, trying to spin around felt really unnatural.

Maybe I'm just getting lame in my old age -- worrying about being unnatural in a dream? WTF

I have never spun but I've heard that it often places you in a different scenario then the one that you were just in. Just remember to do your RCs after spinning =P

I have used dream spinning many times and only once have i remained dreaming afterwards so i don't use it anymore.

i just use verbal demands which is very effective for me.

      Tah-dah!!

Unfortunately the few times I've "spun" I ended up with everything going dark and my dream ending.

That's what I thought when I saw the title

Personally I don't spin. It makes me teleport of lose lucidity. I prefer looking at my hands or rubbing them.

      Hi Clairity!

How about just finding a pair of glasses? Or even better, but more advanced: give yourself laser eye surgery

Yeah, spinning tends to make things more unstable, which is why it's so much easier to teleport by spinning. It tends to break down the scene. My best way to increase clarity (not to be confused with Clairity, whom I'd have a hard time believing could get any better than she already is ) is to stop and look at my hands, and focus on their detail while making the assertion that the rest of the dream world will become more clear when I stop looking at them and look around.

      Works every time.

You know what's interesting.. I wear contacts/glasses in wake life but when I dream.. my vision is perfect without them. I normally just touch things or state "clarity now" or "increase lucidity" and things get more vivid!

      Thanks all!

Clairity, good to make your acquaintance!

I guess I'll stick with the hands!

Odd though; last night I had a terrible dream of my hands being badly injured, and spent most of the dream going "oh no! my hands!" and still it didn't click that I was dreaming.

Yeah spinning doesnt always work to increase your lucidity. But it does usually make sure you atleast enter another dream. Almost everytime I spin, I end up having a false awakening.

So I guess my point is, if you are losing clarity, try some other technique such as rubbing hands to increase clarity ... but if that isnt working as well, when you are running out of time/options, spin around quickly and try to bump into stuff as you do this. That will stop your consciousness from a lapse back to the sensation of you lying in your bed and should send you into another dream.... which is always better than waking up.

Oh and also, when you are spinning for clarity, I think you're supposed to focus on the spinning sensation. Not on your environment. Im not sure about this though.

Hmm.. spin and bump into stuff? That's an interesting idea.. I'll have to give that a try!

Yeah ! I figured out the bumping into objects while spinning thing when I accidentally bumped into a dream railing while I was spinning. Soon after I stopped spinning, I had a false awakening. EXCEPT ... when I opened my eyes, I wasnt lying in bed ... I was STANDING at the very edge of my bed near the foot board railing on my bed... it freaked me out. But I guess my mind was trying to rationalize where the hand touching a railing sensation must have come from ... so it just put me near the foot board railing on my bed. I thought that was pretty interesting.

Spin like you mean it. Like you want to make your self dizy. For whatever reason it helps when the world around you is graying out. When everything is loosing it's.... clairty.

I dunno why. I can't explain it. But it works.
