How much can bad visualiser improve his dreams?

Last night i've had one cool lucid. Actually it was my first longer lucid. But i was surprised, how fast did I actually lost the experience. It was like as if I would recall normal dream.

How far can we get with our recall? And what are the ways for lucid beginner, bad visualiser to improve it?

I'd recommend Sythix Inducing Trance To Wild - Part 2 tutorial to develop visual skill. It has been very helpful for me ;).
