A few times lately, I have dreamed that I woke up in a place I was not familiar with at all. Every time, I have just sat there in the dream place and racked my brain trying to figure out where I was, what day it was, how I got there, and what could possibly be happening. It is the most baffled state of mind I have had this year, and I keep having it. I also woke up in my real bed right after each false awakening and was totally pissed that I had a false awakening and did not catch it. So from now on, when I wake up in a myserious place, the first thing I am going to do is consider that I might be having a false awakening. I will do a reality check right away every time.
False awakenings are extremely powerful. They will have you convinced with complete certainty that you are in the waking world. Don't let that illusion fool you. Do a reality check in that situation any way, no matter what. I think that practice is a good method for increasing lucid dream frequency. I am definitely going to use it, and I think I have a new powerful tool.
