100% Reality Check?

I usually use the nose plug RC, but lately whenever I try to breathe with my nose plugged I start breathing through my eyes, or it makes my ears pop and stuff... This RC used to be my 100% dream test because it never failed to show me that I'm dreaming...

Are there any other RCs that will work as well, because I know that looking at your hands will not always reveal more/less than 5 fingers and that text does not always change. Also, you don't always have access to a light switch... So I'm wondering if there are any RCs out there which almost always work and also results in a very obvious sensation in a dream (such as breathing through your skin) that will most likely lead to lucidity.

I know RCs are different for everybody, but please post your own experiences.

Check out the RC tutorial in the tutorial section for a lot of reality checks. I personally use the nose rc and finger through palm rc, but I haven't tried the finger through the palm in a dream yet. Also, I think that one of the most important things to do when you are rc-ing is to just look at your surroundings to see if anything is out of place or odd. If something is odd, then you should think that you are probably dreaming. Try to make something happen, and do more rcs.

Thanks, I've recently started doing RCs every time i go through a door, hopefully that will help. Also, I notice that I am beginning to notice even the slightest things that are out of place in real life, but I still don;t seem to notice anything in dreams... Hopefully the door RC check will finally get my to DILD.

Try to train yourself to RC every time that you say or think "that's weird"

Yeah, and it may take some time for the reality checks and noticing odd things to enter your dreams. Just make sure that you never stop or give up because I have started and stopped like 5 times within the past two years due to laziness, and if I would have just stuck with it, I am pretty sure that I would have had more lds than just around 2 a month.

Keep yourself motivated and never give up. :)

The 'holding nose and breathing' RC is my favourite. It's such a weird sensation when you can breath despite pinching your nose! I've started doing this check even after becoming lucid just for the sake of it.

Another RC I use is to try and float above the ground (normally from a lying position). Obviously it helps if you've had practice at doing this within a dream.

Same here.. it's also amazing just how little you notice when you're not looking for it.. on my daily trek out I've started actually looking at my surroundings and it all looks completely new and bizarre when I actually look at it.. cause for many reality checks!

Speaking of which, I don't have much experience but so far my favourite RC is the looking at your hand one. I just find it the most convenient.. you've always got hands with you (well most people do) and if I have a false awakening I just can't be bothered to go searching for a book or a clock or anything.. a brief glance at my hand though, that's fine.. this is how I got lucid a few days ago...

Also before doing that very hand RC, I think I tried the nose one (which I also do in real life all the time) but it didn't work in my dream..

I think the best thing is actually to genuinely think about whether you actually may be dreaming, look at your surroundings, think about how you came to be there, and do a variety of RCs along with this.
