Thread: Post your "close to lucidity" moments

I have been having alot of "close to lucidity moments lately like finding something strange and then considering doing a reality check but then eventually deciding not to or doing a reality check and then waking up as i am performing it. Like the other night i was watching this football/soccer program Gillette Soccer Saturday and there are a couple of ridiculous scorelines like one where Liverpool lost 10-2 to West Ham, which i was like wtf is going on this can't be right. After a while of thinking about whether do do one i decided to and as i was counting my figers i woke up and another where i was watching Beyond Belief Fact or Fiction (great programme) and was so close to performing a reality check but didn't and many others.

Hi, they are frustrating to say the least.... But it also gives an opportunity to look back and ask what went wrong and try my best to correct the problem. Usually my close to lucidity moments is when I see my dreamsign (My Little Pony theme) and remember that I have to do an RC. But I rarely actually do it in the dream..only think that I should. Problem for this is that IRL I also tend to skip doing RCs even when I see my dreamsign only doing them sometimes. Like that time I was at my grandma's house that looked nothing like it IRL and as I stayed longer there the place became a shopping mall and there was this shop selling nothing but MLP stuff. I was on the outside of the shop looking in and remembered I was to do a RC but was distracted by a guy looking at me from inside the shop so I walked away... Btw I loved that Beyond Belief show with Jonathan Frakes....

Yeh it was a great show. What i do if i am distracted when doing a reality check is later on i revall i forgot then perform it, it's paying off too.

Try never to let anything distract you when performing a reality check because it happens alotin dreams and it will pass on to them.

I have 2 main ones in my head right now.

The 1st one was a dream I had last month. It was a Harry Pottter dream, and in it Harry gave me a Birthday card that said "You Are Dreaming!", but I didn't get the hint!! And in the other dream, I was at a Bull Riding contest. For some reason, my shoes weren't on. I happened to look down at my feet, and there was an extra toe on both!!

I don't think you are going to get a bigger hint than that, a birthday cake with you are dreaming on it. I wish i could get hints like that.

Last night i was living in my old house in the dream and i went to town to play football and i noticed people from my old school walked onto the pitch and i was thinking why are they here, they don't live near and i felt i was close to doing a reality check or becoming lucid.

Last night I decided to WILD, but when I reached the dream state I was afraid to do the nose-plug RC (my favorite) because I thought it would disturb my drift into SP!

Needless to say, I had to WILD twice in oder to get to a lucid dream.

I was listening to some binaural beats with my eyes closed. All of a sudden I get vibrations and a big purple light comes at me. I could have done a WILD, right there...but I jumped myself out of it.*takes a hammer to face*

Second time, I was in a game shop. I do two reality checks, two people want to start a fight with me. I get curios, so I hold my nose, I can't breath. I release, then I look at my hands, fairly normal.

This could have something to do with your waking reality checks, do you do them routinely (not really believing that you could be dreaming) or genuinely? because if you do them without actually believing that you could be dreaming then you will expect the reality checks to pass and in dreams expectation plays a big role. As for the dream characters wanting to start a fight with you

But in a way, if it wasn't for that little bastard with a white shirt who tried to beat the shit out of me, I would of never reality checked. I would of knocked his fuckin' head off anyway.

Last night i was watching a football match and a team scored and there was no pause in play after the goal, not only that but then the team who just scored run up the other end and tryed to score up there as well. I thought but i believe just as i was about to realize i was dreaming i woke up.

Mine I feel, is the worst. It only lasted around 30 seconds. I was in the middle of a stadium, like the Colosseum. The seats were full and everybody was shouting, "You're dreaming! You're dreaming!"

Last night i had dreamed that i got up from my bed and i looked at the time on my stove, it had read 5:56 and i told myself there is no way i slept in to 5:56 pm so as i realized i was dreaming i woke up.

Last night i dreamt about travelling. Me and a friend of mine were travelling somewhere and we met some guy. We sat down at an outdoor table, he gave us a glass of water, but i didn't quit trust him. He smiled and walked away. Then a van came driving towards us very fast, it stopped.

I thought 'if this goes bad I'll do a RC and realize that i'm dreaming, so there's nothing to worry about.'

Then some peruvian folkband got out of the van and started doing their thing. Afterwards they became a little annoying, the dream continued for quite some time, i remember battling one of the peruvian girls who turned into some sort of demon, i captured her in a big sort of aquarium, lots of crazy stuff happened, but i did't get lucid.

I was pretty disappointed when i woke up, how could i not just do a RC and become lucid, while i'm already pretty sure that i'm dreaming?

Yeah, it was a fun dream even without getting lucid.

I had another one like that this morning.

I dreamt that i was lying in bed with my girlfriend watching some animation movie called 'snowworld'. On the opening screen it said 'release date 31-12-2007', I thought 'that's odd, that's tomorrow', but didn't realize it was a dream.

During the movie i dozed off a lot of times (in the dream) and in those moments i felt the transition between 'waking' and dreaming. So i had a couple of lucid moments when i fell asleep in my dream.

I played the guitar in those 'lucid moments', my girlfriend 'woke me up' (back to the snowworld dream), because she didn't want me playing the guitar while she was watching a movie. I said 'did you hear that? I don't have a guitar, i played it during my lucid dream i just had, wow.'
But even then, i didn't realize that that was a dream too.

Well, that was two nights in a row getting very close to lucidity, I think my mind is getting more ready for lucid dreaming.

Damnit I had one last night! I was on my street back in my hometown when I realized I thought I might be dreaming. I tried the finger-through-hand RC but that didn't work so I did the nose-plugging one and it worked! But I didn't really feel conscious. Like I knew I was dreaming but it felt different than my other lucids. I tried spinning but that didn't really do much and then I woke up
