      easy method of lucid dreaming?

just a minute ago I opened up "sound recorder" on my computer and recorded a minute of nothing (no microphone plugged in) and clicked "decrease speed" until it wouldn't let me anymore leaving me with 16 minutes or 960 seconds of blank .wav file. I saved it 3 times as 1.wav, 2.wav, and 3.wav, all the same 16 minutes of blankness. Then I recorded myself saying "THIS IS A DREAM, YOU ARE DREAMING... RIGHT NOW" and saved it as 4.wav. I put the files 1, 2, 3, and 4 in my iTunes library, then in a playlist called "dream notifier". I went into settings on my ipod, turned off shuffle, and uploaded the playlist to my iPod. I connected my iPod to my iPod speaker apparatus and set it to the volume I saw fit. I then set my alarm for 4 in the morning and plan on going to sleep between 12 and 1. And I'm going to play just before I go to bed, and then WBTB at 4 and play it then as well. It will go through each 16 minute blank wavs in order and therefore play my voice "you are dreaming now" after approx. 45 minutes.

      I think this might work

If you want to try this yourself, and don't have a mic you could probably find an alternative sound file for your "4.wav", but the first three should work fine.

If you don't have an iPod+speaker you could just play it on your computer (I personally just don't like to leave comp on all night)

      And there yuh go, haven't tried it yet. Hope it works. You should try it too. And tell me if it works for you! :}

actually no, but that is an interesting connection

I wonder if you could scream "YOU'RE IN A COMA" to a comatose patient and give them a lucid coma or in otherwords the ultimate lucid dream...

I made a playlist of songs that had "dream" or in the title and recorded myself saying "This is a dream. I'm dreaming." etc. I burnt it to a cd and listened to it with headphones through the night. Nothing happened to me though. Not saying it can't work, it should work.

yea, it didn't work, but I'll try it again
I slept through it completely the first time
then when I woke up I couldn't get back to sleep to try it again

I might take a nap later and try it then

      Hi Jamous:

Phoenelai did a ton of research on this last year and found it to be quite effective. Check the threads. Good luck.

Hey Jamous... I had been wanting to try something like this. How have a built-in microphone on my laptop. How can I record my message though? What program did you use to make the voice recording?

      Thanks

Very interresting, I planned on making myself a Lucid MP3 too.

One thing you are probably doing wrong though:

You said you had 16 minutes of silence before a recorded message "You're Dreaming!" comes. You should know that each individual Sleep cycle, of which every night you'll have about 4 to 5, lasts around 90 minutes. Every sleep stage has it's dream stage which is at the end of the 90 minutes when you'll have REM-sleep.

So if you wanna get that alarm to go off at the right time I suggest leaving 70 ot 80 minutes of silence on the recording before a voice sais : " You are Dreaming" for about 10 to 20 minutes. And that 5 times for each sleep cycle.

I'm gunna try recording a little of this stuff myself. Maybe I'll record an MP3 with my Synthesizer.

      And another thing:
The spoken message might wake you up or you might miss it completely. These things are unpredictable, but I did notice nsomething while sleeping in the presence of friendswho had some malicious plan for me. Let's say I would be sleeping very deep and they'd say: " Come on let's poor a bucket of icecold water over him" then magically I am wakefull to suddenly say:" I wouldn't do that if you hold your life dear". Strange. As if I was deliberately asleep so deep and choose to briefly "Submerge" to tell them to fuck off and let me sleep.
Something called selective perception? hearing in this case?

Perhaps recording a message like " Let's pick him up and toss him in the ocean!" would be more likely to penetrate.
