I might take a nap later and try it then

Very interresting, I planned on making myself a Lucid MP3 too.

One thing you are probably doing wrong though:

You said you had 16 minutes of silence before a recorded message "You're Dreaming!" comes. You should know that each individual Sleep cycle, of which every night you'll have about 4 to 5, lasts around 90 minutes. Every sleep stage has it's dream stage which is at the end of the 90 minutes when you'll have REM-sleep.

So if you wanna get that alarm to go off at the right time I suggest leaving 70 ot 80 minutes of silence on the recording before a voice sais : " You are Dreaming" for about 10 to 20 minutes. And that 5 times for each sleep cycle.

I'm gunna try recording a little of this stuff myself. Maybe I'll record an MP3 with my Synthesizer.

      And another thing:
The spoken message might wake you up or you might miss it completely. These things are unpredictable, but I did notice nsomething while sleeping in the presence of friendswho had some malicious plan for me. Let's say I would be sleeping very deep and they'd say: " Come on let's poor a bucket of icecold water over him" then magically I am wakefull to suddenly say:" I wouldn't do that if you hold your life dear". Strange. As if I was deliberately asleep so deep and choose to briefly "Submerge" to tell them to fuck off and let me sleep.
Something called selective perception? hearing in this case?

Perhaps recording a message like " Let's pick him up and toss him in the ocean!" would be more likely to penetrate.

well, actually what I said was I had three 16 minute blank recordings (16 minutes was as long as I could make each individual recording), then my voice...
then last night I made it 2 hours, but it didn't work. I missed it completely the first time, then when I did a wbtb sort of deal and played it again I happened to have just woken up from a dream when it played.

So, having bad luck with it as of now. But I think I'm doing it right. And that's a very interesting idea with the ocean thing. I think I'll record something like that.

I made another version of it with 2 hours blank recording then my voice saying, "dude, you're dreaming."

I actually intended to do this exact thing, with a recording saying "you're dreaming" after a few hours of silence.

Having read the results, though, I wonder if you wouldn't be better off using something less blunt. For example, instead of hoping that you're awake enough to hear and comprehend your message in your dream, maybe you should instead craft your own dream sign - make a recording of something you can remember, like pig noises, mooing, or some other thing which brings on a mental image. Then train yourself to reality check every time you see a pig/cow. With luck, even if you don't consciously understand the message coming to you, your subconscious will incorporate it into your dream visually.
