I really want to achieve a proper LD, but it turns out I'm not a natural at all. I've been trying hard for the past 4 months (I started in December), and I've never had a proper LD.

I'm willing to accept that DILDing is my best bet. My dream recall isn't that bad, either, and I've been keeping a dream journal for the past month and a half.

However, I can never get myself to realise when I'm dreaming. Something stupid will happen, or I'll be in a really weird situation, yet I'll never notice because I just want to go with the flow.

My most obvious dreamsign is water, whether it be a swimming pool or a river/lake. Normally I'll end up in it (ie Jumping accross it and then falling in). It's like I have some sort of subconcious fear of water, yet I'm a pretty proficient swimmer and enjoy it!

Please, could somebody help me? I'm finding this so tough, but really want to experience it when I see others achieving fully blown lucids on their first night...

      I'm desperate!!

I've had the same problem with "Going with the flow." But I started listening to this LucidRemix.mp3 thing and after listening to it everynight at 3am (while I'm asleep) I finally heard it say "I am aware that I'm dreaming," And became lucid...and it was only for a second! Soon after that I had 2 more lucids lasting alittle bit longer.

Water crops up in my dreams too, in a very obvious way. Last night I walked past a big waterspout! I'm doing reality checks everytime i see water, be it in the toilet, washing my hands, drinking, rain, or whatever. It hasn't crossed over to my dreams yet, but eventually it will I hope.

I'm not a proficient lucid dreamer either so can't really give any solid advice but all I can suggest is keep up the reality checks when you see a dreamsign e.g. water, everytime you see it, don't slack. It will transition to your dreams eventually.

If it was me I guess I would do a reality check everytime I saw water in real life. That way when you see it in your dreams you'll do it too hopefully. That's the whole point of finding dreamsigns. It helps you question your reality and thus question your dreams. My dreamsign is obviously highschool and highschool friends but I don't have the luxury of seeing them in real life so that won't work.At least you got a better dreamsign than I did.
