Last night i had the first lucid dream i have had in a while... I never do any techniques taught on the site but once in a while i find a way to slip into a lucid dream.. Last night i put on a really calming song on loop and put a sleeper on my mp3 player... I listened to it till i was asleep and i immediately started seeing more vivid shapes than i usually would. When i slipped into dream.. I was walking down and beautiful staircase.. when i reached the bottom i saw this lady.. immediately i turned to her and told her " look at those stairs.. so unreal... This is clearly a dream" and boom there it was

I was just wondering if anyone else has used calming music to induce lucid dreaming.. if so please reply to recommend certain songs.. or just tell me why or why not that is possible.

I've wondered the same thing, it seems to me that I never "hear" anything in my dreams anywaze. I've been sleeping with binaural .mp3's on the headset for quite some time and I'm quite convinced that it's having a positive effect on my dreaming, I even put my RC chime in between my two favorite lucidity tracks but still I've not "heard" anything. I'm going to try out some music instead for a few nights and see if I get any different results.

You mean like Queensrÿche's Silent Lucidity? Yahuh... that'd be perfect.

OK, I tried this last night and had one helluva hard time drifting off to sleep, seems I'm too much of a lyrics freak and can't let go enough to fall asleep, I have to keep on singing in my head, making it nearly impossible to sleep. About an hour and a half after I went to bed I switched back to my ultimate induction disc, I sleep great to that one. Maybe something without lyrics would work better, I'm thinking I'll try Ommadawn by Mike Oldfield, I used to listen to that one when I was undergoing accupuncture sessions, very relaxing.

I've had some success playing trance/goa while going to sleep. It might not sound very sleepy (and it isn't) but it sure gives wacky dreams! Strangely, falling asleep isn't too difficult either. You quickly get used to it. Guess it's in a very different direction than the calming soundtracks, but definitely worth trying!

i listen to music everynight when trying to have a lucid dream, it sort of puts me in "the zone", i get really calm and relaxed and stress free, i wish this sort of thing worked for me but i'm not that good at inducing them at the moment, maybe theres hope for the future though!

I was just thinking about this today -- I listen to a fair amount of instrumental music, and I've found that when I hear ocean sounds I can create a very vivid image in my head. I can imagine myself sitting on a beach, and the sound of waves breaking slows my breath down and really clears my mind.
So what I plan to do tonight is listen to this ocean sounds cd, and as I fall asleep my only thought will be of waking up by the ocean. Maybe this will help me realize that I'm dreaming faster and make my surroundings more realistic.

Ok hte last few nights I have used Pink Floyd songs, 4 of them from the Division Bell and Momentary Laps of Reason on repeat..

Last night I had a almost lucid dream that I'm sure was from hte music coupled with my awareness of LDing. And of course suggesting to myself that the music would make me lucid.

I'm going to keep doing this myself.
