Hi, im new to this forum and probably dont know as much as everyone else about Lucid Dreaming.

What I do know is that over the last few months Ive developed a habit of Sleep Paralysis which occurs most mornings as I begin to come round. Sleep Paralysis is absolutely no fun, Ive heard some terrible stories where people thought they were being sucked into the ground and things like that. Fortunately mine doesnt seem to be as bad as that but its still not very nice. I can usually manage the odd head turn amongst the panic and racing heart and what feels like cramping. Im absolutely certain it is a psychological problem, and the more I panic, the worse it gets resulting in losing hope in being able to move.

From what ive read on the internet it seems Lucid Dreamers induce Sleep Paralysis and see it as an opportunity to enter a Lucid Dream, is this right? I hope so haha.

If anyone could give me any tips whatsoever on how to relax when this happens, (I try everytime but have never suceeded) and hopefully enter a Lucid Dream then I will be eternally grateful! Really!

      Thanks

I've had a decent amount of experience with WILDs..in fact, most of my LDs turn out being WILDs. The transition, at least for me, from sleep paralysis is not fun, and not easy either. What I found very helpful during this stressful period where you start to panic about not moving is to retract into my mind and not think about my body too much.

I think that is a little unclear so I'll clear it up with some explaination of how I WILD. I usually start by laying down when I am already very tired, eg. WBTB, and I imagine myself doing a form for Tae Kwon Do.. if you don't do a martial art you could imagine yourself doing any activity that is your hobby..for example you could imagine yourself kicking a soccer ball. Try to concentrate on imagine yourself doing exactly that thing over and over. The reason for this is that you will keep your mind active as your body falls asleep. This is about where I usually enter sleep paralysis...and I must let you know that about 70% of the time I flip out and get worked up to the point where I can move. The other 30% of the time I continue concentrating on my form..and I try to focus all of my thought on that rather than on the fact that I can't move. Whenever I am able to do this I always reach the point where there is a sound like a train passing me in my ears and then I "open" my eyes in dream and I'm LDing.

I guess the short answer to this long explaination is to just keep concentrating on your WILD technique.. Good Luck Dreaming!!

What I do is think of my real body and my dream body as two seperate things and during SP I will "roll" my dream body out of the real one. Lots of times it feels just like it does when I roll my real body when I'm awake. This has been 100% affective for me during SP. As soon as I "roll" out I'm in a lucid dream. I discovered this by accident once when trying to face one of the monsters I imagined coming for me.Later I read about it on here and realized that that's what I had done.I use it everytime now.I hope this will help you out.

I have actually tried this, and it sort of worked for a second then the panic was back! I guess its a matter of believing you can do it first. Thanks!
