I just can't seem to get the hang of it. I can't seem to go into a state of relaxation and RCs don't work either. There has only been one occasion when I have come close to an LD but it hasn't happened again so can anyone suggest anything?

Keeping a dream journal?
Even though I've not properly LD'd either, but you can try this to relax:

I find that although I don't actually wild, the feels that you can get from it are really amazing!
By the way, don't think you can LD, know you can LD. (Crap, It's starting to sound like something Morpheus would say!)
You trying DILD? If you are keeping a DJ, look for any dreamsigns, if you aren't then you really should. It can help to give yourself something to think about that's recent and related to your dreaming.

Maybe consider putting yourself up for adoption so you can get some good one on one with an experienced LDer. Good luck...

It isn't necessary to be relaxed to LD, although for most people it helps. And as for the RCs, try as many different ones as you can, as often as you can until you find some that work. Also try to find your dreamsigns. Find where most of your dreams take place, what happens in them, and what objects you see in them. When those things happen, do some RCs and ask yourself if you're dreaming.
The last thing, Lucid Dreaming isn't as easy for some as it is for others. Just keep trying and you'll get it eventually.

the adoption program has helped me alot (thanx O!!!!!!!!!! ;)
but yeah, if youve been trying too hard, maybe its time for a break.
If not, i would continue the reality checks and maybe try MILD.
im no pro but it seems to get a little easier each time and feel more comfortable when i realize im dreaming.
