Bizarre Induced Lucid Dreaming (BILD)

First of all I’d like to say this is a very successful technique and seems to work with near 100% accuracy when practised correctly. However, to the person who is fairly new to lucid dreaming or this style of technique may find it particularly distressing at first, but must repeat to be ‘accustomed’ to such bizarre dali-esque experiences. This isn’t night-terror free and this can occur but it isn’t required and this can be avoided by practise.

Here is the technical method. But a lot of previous mind training needs to be done and pre-conceived ideas need to be given.

Sleep instructions


  • 1. First of all, an hour before you actually sleep, ingest 25mg of Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride (to sedate, and initiate peak of psychoactive effects from sleep deprivation when delayed by its recommended time for sleep)

    2. Personally I prefer after 40 minutes of ingesting that tablet, that I consume 3 tablets of ZMA (Zinc, Magnesium and B6 supplement. I suggest buy this from a health store as it seems to be the daddy of quality repairing sleep and vividity nutrition wise). Each capsule contains 3.5mg B6, 150mg magnesium and 10mg of Zinc.

    3. During this hour, it maybe wise to browse lucid dreaming forums, wikipedia (looking up information about drugs) reading encyclopedia on biochemistry or whatever you feel is educational.

    4. When you eventually attempt to sleep, it often helps to feel ‘warmer’ then normal, somehow this aids in lucid dreaming.

    5. attempt to sleep for 5/6 hours, wake up, make yourself scrambled eggs on toast OR if you really wanted to push the limit (smoke Calea Zacheachichi, or consume a generous amount of Blue Stilton Cheese OR have a yeast based product like Bovril on toast – I will explain the relevance later)

    6. go back to sleep half an hour to an hour later or whatever you feel gives you the best success. THEN ingest one anti-histamine of your choice (doesn’t need to be drowsy)

    7. Make sure to sleep about 2-4 hours. It’s not uncommon to fall asleep for 10 hours in total after a previous sleep deprived night, but not everyone has this luxury.

    8. You may have random ‘false awakenings’ or ‘night terrors’ or lying in bed feeling sweaty but persistence is required to combat these.



Now here comes the mechanics of my method (it may help, but isn’t necessary, to have experience of drugs/substances or a knowledge of them prior)

Reality pills
– Red and Blue pills. You will have these to control the intensity of the situation, you will have a small pill bottle with a couple of pills in there. Take the reality pill for a more tranquil experience or to lessen otherwise too bizarre situation (ie: avoid sleep paralysis) and take the blue pill whilst in lucidity to amplify intensity (although taking too much may mean more intenser or shorter experiences)

Of course, everyone has a subjective opinion on these drugs – I am not necessarily promoting the use of drugs, I am merely exploiting the minds dopamine-reward system and pseudo-effects of these drugs when in a state of your own reality (which in theory, has unlimited potential) In which case, if you believe that you’re about to get ‘stoned’ or ‘tripping’ you will 


Cannabis – Smoke cannabis in your dream to induce more creative, sensual experiences. Induce yourself into a happy stupor or alternatively in your mind imagine a stronger variety of cannabis you’re smoking with a vastly different effect.

Magic Mushrooms – Consume magic mushrooms in your dream to feel tranquil, I prefer eating these outside in a garden or somewhere sunny in my dreams to enhance attention to detail and colour. This may make you feel uncoordinated too (if you remember it happening to you before)

Poppers – You sniff these, what I do with this is treat it like a dissociative and your reality takes a mind off its own (and doesn’t want to be ordered).

Ecstasy – Intense pleasure, maybe the most pleasurable drug to take on a dream if you want a beautiful experience.

LSD – Take this too basically experience mindf****, flashbacks, time distortion, excessive false awakenings, you will truly be in chaos and you may be seeing with dinosaur heads(Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas anyone?)

Userspecified Pills – Colour code your own pills, with practise, you can eventually customise each individual to take on a vastly different affect. One may make you ‘light headed and floaty’ and may mean you experience the sensation of zero gravity and another pill could be one that makes you more ‘spiritually aware’. My FAVOURITE one is the black capsule, where you end up being teleported to some bizarre Hieronymous Bosch hell .


Theory / Tips / Observations


There are so much drugs/substances to take so you may take on your own definitions or expectations of any drug even if you haven’t taken it before. Read Wikipedia or Erowid and research effects to bring out the immersion, you can get even more immersed if you choose to ingest/smoke any random object you may find. You may for example have colour/shape coded pipes that bring a vastly different experience.

Finally – I stress, DRUG USING IS ABUSING. I don’t take drugs as much as you might assume and for me it’s only an occasional social activity (and not my life). Using drugs before sleep is horrible, but diphenhydramine HCl in mild dosage is good as long as you cycle and don’t depend on it. If you feel diphenhydramine HCl Is too much of an addiction I suggest move to Valerian root or 5-HTP as a safer alternative.


I have practised this technique for months now and its not uncommon for me to have multiple lucid dreams or OBE experiences (or the sensations of an OBE as there is no scientific fact). I am a methodical person, I believe it generally helps to be a more creative/focused individual in regards to dreaming and to frequently exercise the body. Somehow this technique adds a Synaesthesia spin on the dream and adds to the immersion of any lucid dream.

Ok, if you tried this and it didn’t work, I can only stress repetition or better yet repeatedly VISUALISE yourself taking a drug in the day (Ie: every 2 hours imagine you’re a smoking a joint and you may feel a pseudo-daydream effect of such thing as your mind either remembers what it was like or imagines what it is like).

Things you may notice if you have false awakenings or night terrors – Objects take on a mind of its own, hallucinations become INCREDIBLY pronounced. Your imagination and control of the situation is stronger when you deal with your intense sensations and experience with practise. For example, a simple white plastic bag can manifest itself perfectly in to the shape of a cat staring at you, or alternatively you may decide to have it changed into faces screaming out in horror begging to be released. When in such a state of lucidity, you can ‘falsely awaken’ yourself and literally pick up the bag and play with the kitten cat, and you may break yourself free from this false awakening by ingesting a Reality Pill or get even more immersed either by spinning in your dream or taking a Surreality Pill.

Synaesthesia – I ask someone to try my experiment and report their own progress. I find that objects now seem to have ‘aura colours’ if they’re significant, I have found it unbelievably helpful if I’m dreaming and not necessarily lucid that I am able to recognise and go ‘hang on a minute, objects/people don’t have auras’. This maybe a unique occurrence, but when I imagine inducing a certain blue/white coloured capsule that my synaesthesia is even more pronounced or when I’m smoking a joint or having magic mushrooms. I think this is useful for finding ‘dream symbols’ and I may have to optimise such experiences as I am not naturally abled to have synaesthesia in real life. This is what I call capitalisation of drug experiences to understand oneself in your own reality, some reason your mind is susceptible to pseudo effect especially whilst dreaming under optimum conditions. I for instance, imagined a photo of someone as being ‘light blue’ as this was how I felt about that personality. Give it a try if you get so lucky.

Blue Stilton and yeast-based products aren’t a necessity but if you’re brave you can experience truly surreal experiences. Although Stilton for some can induce Silent-Hill esque nightmares but this is different to each persons sensitivity. The theory is the more bizzarre and far from reality you are, the more apt you are to discovery of a window of oppurtunity for a lucid dream.
