      Some help getting lucid

Ive been trying for a while now getting lucid, (with the help of this site), and I just cant seem to do it. I have always had excellent dream recall, but whenever I am in a dream it feels more like a movie with me as the star.

I have been using the FILD method to try and attain lucidity. I think my problem is doing the reality check. When dreaming, i dont even think about them, even though right before Im about to fall back asleep it is my main thought. I say to myself 'do a reality check, do a reality check' but I never do. So, am I thinking about doing the RC too late? When you guys do the RC, in your dreams or before you think you are dreaming?

Until you get so used to realising you're dreaming, you will find yourself only RCing when you see something so blatantly dream-signy that you aren't sure whether you're dreaming or not xD

First of all, welcome to the forum!

I think you need to try some different techniques. Things work differently for everyone, so maybe the FILD technique just doesn't do it for you - or you just need to give it more time.

As for RCs - they are meant to be done during waking life, so once you get used to doing them all the time, you will start to do them in your dreams as well. The key to utilizing RCs is that when you do one while awake, you need to really question if you're awake or not - not just say "Am I dreaming?", then immediately respond, "No."

Be more aware and conscious of your surroundings during waking life. If anything remotely strange happens, really ask yourself if this could be a dream. Eventually, you will become more aware of strange things in your dreams and be able to recognize that you're dreaming.

Bottom line - it all takes patience and practice. Keep us updating on your progress! And good luck!

A good thing to do is when you finaly become Lucid ask for your literal Dream Guide not like Burns up there. Mine is a disembodied female voice she tells me to do a reality check,or when i visit an old dream scerery she tells me how familiar it looks. And Do RC during the day if you look at a clock ask yourself if your dreaming then look again to see if it says the same thing.
Im a beginer too though so Good luck
      I Cant Fly!!
It pisses me off. I'll jump like 50 ft in the air then come right back down.
