      WILD without sleep first.

I've heard it was possible, but not sure if it really is...

i just want to know how many people here can do this, or are trying to do this...just share your experiences

      I have tried this....

Hey dude, i've tried this a few times, but no luck so far
The usual things happen, first my whole body goes numb, followed by a floating sensation, (feels like i'm floating in midair), then i hear voices, then i suddenly feel like i'm being propelled forwards. Then thats it. For some reason i dont enter any type of dreamscape at all. if anyone could tell me why that would be wicked cheers

      peace, out

I've tried this quite a few times to no avail. I'm pretty sure the reason it's so hard is that it takes a long time before the REM period kicks in, and so you're stuck in a wierd kind of transition stage for ages. I don't think it's the same as if you take a nap during the day, but don't ask me why or how I believe that.

Whenever I try WILD before sleep, my arms feel like they are on backwards, then they go numb, and then I'm sort of in my head for a while. Some wierd shit happens, and I usually end up giving in to the sweet embrace of sleeeeeep.

We need some WILDers in here to help us sort out our shit I say.

I've never experienced this myself so far but just logically assessing this makes me wonder: have you tried drifting into imagination while in this state? After all hypnagogia begins with thoughts going independant, which, in turn, may very well mean that concentrating on such a state will result in not going into hypnagogia and REM.
The trick with following thoughts into sleep is staying aware but if you can achieve this state of sleep paralysis without losing awareness then perhaps it's worth a try to start a trail of imagination after entering this state allowing for, perhaps, easier awareness of hypnagogia if it begins.

I try do do this on most nights. After a time of strange colours and some stupid sounds i just cant seem to keep concentrated on trying to attain lucidity. My mind wanders into stupid thoughts that have nothing to do with my life and i constantly have to remind myself what it is im trying to do. I havent had a succesfull WILD since ive been trying for about 2 months now. Im very lost...

looks like we all have the same problem. anyway last nite i attempted an wbtb. i woke up first round 1 ish. went for a slash. an played me tape. wich repeates to me. " the nest time you are dreaming, you will no your dreaming........are your dreaming". after about half an hour i attempted a wild. Nothing!! not even flashy lights this time. i counted from 100 back and nothing. eventually i jsut went to sleep. i attempted this again at about 5 in the morning, the exact same happened. but there was a bright side. i had longer dreams, wich i can remember more detail of. i might b getting close

I can never get HI after sleep, so I always do my WILD attempts before bed.

But then I fall asleep. If I take anything to keep me from falling asleep, I don't get HI.

I got it to work once...my sleeping pattern was kinda outa whack then tho...anywayz I just tried to go to sleep as normal but wanted to catch myself at the exact moment I went to sleep...after a while I stopped feeling my breathing, went into SP, then into some wild LDs...when I awoke I forgot the dreams at first but they all came back after about 30 mins...I was having sex, then met someone else that was LDing, he took me through a store and we were watching ppl but couldn't tell them we were dreaming...he took me to a mirror and I walked though but just ended up in a weird black nothingness place...more sex...more dreams I don't remember anymore...

WILD's are certainly a difficult skill to master, but when you have your first successful one, it will all be worth it.

When I WBTB WILD after about 5 hours of sleep, I have an almost perfect success rate of WILDing. On the contrary, I have never successfully started a WILD when going to sleep for the first time at night. However, I have noted that, although I don't nap much during the day, I experience some of the most interesting and vivid HI before falling into nap, and on occasion those will transition to WILD's (although nap-induced WILD's have not been as interesting as the ones during the night).

I don't have a concrete explanation as to why I can WILD during a nap but not when first going to bed. My best guess has to do with ambient light levels, melatonin levels, and my body's natural sleep/wake equilibrium cycle. That is, when I go to sleep at night, it knows to prepare itself for 8 hours of sleep so it doesn't force REM early. However, when I nap, it knows it'll only be for an hour, so it forces REM fast.

Hmmmm I tried a WILD without sleep last night. I think it went well for my first ever WILD. I got to the last stage of relaxation. Fist I just started out with the relaxation steps for a HILD and then I went numb and felt kind of like I was sinking into the bed, yet floating at the same time. I think what messed it up is that a relized that I left my window open and my eyes kept going back and forth. After a while I just gave in and went into a non-lucid dream.

Sorry to bring back old posts, only a day or two old it seems, but this is what I have been trying to do for the past two days. I think it can be summed accurately as being stuck between two phases, awake, and asleep, and that’s where it stays. I am very curious though, does anyone think that it is even possible, or let along mastered? If it could be mastered it seems that this would be the one to work towards since it does not require waking up. I am skeptical but I do know that this method of going straight to a WILD before sleep does produce amazing visual images on the closed eyelids!

so far it's all been negative experiences. Figure it's because REM only comes later in the sleep cycle. Dissapointing...but I'm going to keep trying it once my schedual settles down, and i'll keep everyone informed.

It's good practice for doing it at 5.00 which matters.

But year, I reckon REM only comes on your 2nd or 3rd sleep cycle.
