Thread: Opinions needed please!!

I had a lucid dream today after a dry patch of 3 weeks.The lucid dream went on for about 30mins which caused me not to remember alot of it due to poor recall.Im wondering weather one of the new techniques im trying has caused this or maybe a technique iv been trying for a while that has finally kicked in....heres my day and night techniques and hope you can give me.your.2.cents...thankyou

DAY TIME TECHNIQUES
•Awareness during the 3 times i take my.dogs a walk(been doing this for the past 4 months)
•Reality checking only if something looks weird(been doing not that much of as not much gets weird in my.life) and reality checking when i see family or my girlfriend(been doing for 3 days now...i do it as most my dreams involve family or g/f)
•been on and off adding a gravity awareness exercise to my list(been doing at work for the past 2 days)

NIGHT TIME TECHNIQUES
•MILD(i.imagine my last dream then imagin becoming lucid in that dream...been doing this for about on and off 3months)
•Iv been repeating a new mantra for the past few days and really imagining it happening and really focusing on the words (i will realise im in a dream)
•and basic breathing and meditation techniques and i also voice record my dreams as i.hate writing.....lastly i only tend to get lucid as a result of dream induced lucid dreams

This may seem alot to do for someone but its not that much really...to me anyways.....any info or suggestions would be great thankyou =)

I think imagining your mantra happening is what helped the most. It takes a certain amount of confidence to summon the courage to question reality. Imagining success like you're doing can help with this.

I agree with dolphin. I'm a big proponent of self-affirmation techniques when it comes to LDs and using a good mantra is key to a successful MILD.

Just curious, how did you get lucid? Did you perform a RC after seeing your family/gf in the dream or was it spontaneous/something else? There's a decent chance that your new RCs played a role as well.

To be honest it was a very weird way of getting lucid that iv never done before....i was at work in my dream and fell asleep by someones bed....then woke up next to myself asleep in my dream...quiet bizzare tbf....most of my lucids happen randomly where in a way it just clicks and without reality checking i just know...
I agree that affirmations are good and im gonna keep at it.....its funny tho that iv been lucid dreaming on and off for about 3 years now and havent found *the technique* for me but i know its there i just haveto dedicate myself to the right one or ones =) thanks for reading my post btw and hope you have or will find your way too =)

The actual lucid i had yesterday didnt have my family or gf in it but i try to reality check after i have made contact with anyone...its hard to.remember to do so but the more i do.it the quicker the habit will continue into my dreams...i hope lol

I have found that any mental attention focused on the act of dreaming can help one to start noticing dreams. Perhaps some of your methods are working for you more than others, but it all helps. Even being on this forum helps me.
