      Some Lucid dreaming questions?

Hey all, I'm kind of new to lucid dreaming and I have some questions on certain techniques:
First for WBTB technique, I have heard people mention drinking water before bed. How reliable is this technique?
Second the method I try the most is FILD. I had a close call with it once but I wonder how successful is it?
Lastly, I want to ask questions on Dream Journals. I record my dreams and I keep it up to date but I don't actually read through it after. Should I do that to ensure a better chance?

Never used FILD but with WBTB water could help at first but after a while you'll notice that you just wake up naturally in the night.

I usually analyze my dreams when I put them in my DJ but after that not really.

      Welcome, Sektor!

First, in case you do not already know, lucid dreaming is more about mindset than techniques. I highly recommend that you look into what I call the fundamentals of lucid dreaming: self-awareness, memory, and expectation/intention. I go on more about them here. I believe that knowledge and adaptation of the fundamentals is far more important than any technique; I hope you'll take a look. But that's not what you asked:

Drinking some water before bed isn't actually a technique, but doing so can certainly provide good incentive to get out of bed for your WBTB, so why not do it?

Next, though FILD is a fine technique, you might want to look into MILD, because it encompasses much of what you need for doing most of the popular techniques meant to induce DILDs or WILDs. With a foundation of MILD in your lucid tool chest, you might find FILD much easier to achieve.

Finally, if you are recording your dreams in a DJ, and doing so as carefully as possible, you are completing the most important part of the task. It is certainly a good idea to read over what you've written, especially if you are looking for dream signs (as you would be, if practicing MILD), but the act of writing the dreams down is what will helps most in terms of developing both your dream recall and the general profile of dreams in your waking-life.

      Good luck in your journey!
