This depends on whether you are taking about using DEILD as a primary technique, or to extend a current dream. In the case of the latter I would choose DEILD since lucids are easy enough to remember.
In case of the former however;
To successfully DEILD you will need a large period of time to sleep. 9+ hours is my own standard for DEILDing, any less your probably wasting your time. So it's not a case of one or the other, it's neither or both.
The problem is that just relying on a mantra for DEILDing is a challenge only reserved for those with an unbending will. On the other end of the spectrum, alarms will usually ruin the delicate waking required to DEILD.
So your best bet is waking up multiple times in the night and dedicating each one to a task. The first awakening may be to dream journal and then say mantras, the next alarm may be for the actual DEILD and the last may be an alarm right before your usual bed time to redo those mantra's again.
This way you will gain the benefits of dream journaling twice, saying your mantra's three times and even waking up 1+ times to try DEILD. As you may suspect this takes up a lot of sleep and so you must sleep longer than usual and your overall sleep will deteriorate.
DEILD is not for the faint of heart!
Thanks alot dutch! Time for me is not the issue for mow but my problem is with getting up early and actually not falling asleep 2 seconds after waking up XD
do you have any ideas how to get up directly from a dream?
Mantra's is all I can say :disconcerted: or mantra related activities.
Honestly it can be head wrecking at times. When it works though it's awesome and to keep your hopes up you wanna at least have a lucid every few days if not more, which definitely requires bulk efforts.
No slacking and no deviating from the plan. If the technique's for you then eventually it should start working.
Seems legit, thanks again!
If you want to make deild easier i find that combining it with ssild first helps immensly
I hope this is not a dumb question :oops: but how do you combine these two? I thought in deild the point was to only be awake for a few seconds without moving to re-enter the dream easily and ssild was about spending some minutes focusing on the senses to raise awareness, working best when combined with wbtb.
Last night, I had DILD and then I DEILDED, and then after the second LD I wake up. It's true that I've got no coherent recall of the first LD.
Personally I would always go for DEILD if I had the chance. Especially if you're trying to chain from a LD. Of course my recall is trash so I guess it's a trade-off. But for me, I'd pick a fuzzy LD over a well-remembered non-lucid dream any day.
