Thread: Already have mastered, but what now?

I have mastered lucid dreaming, but really only with reality checks. Lately, whenever I do good juicy long reality checks for long times I get a lucid the next night by default, although I don't do a reality when becoming lucid, I just..know

and now that I "know" is their a way for me to start getting lucid dreams without reality checks now?

Wow, mastered! Very impressive. Could you expand a bit on what you mean by mastering lucid dreaming?

Basically, I can get lucid dreams on command. I have ALOT more then more LD count btw.

The point is, since Lucid Dreaming is already stuck with my mind, shouldn't I be able to get lucid dreams without reality checks now?

Man, you really need to update your LD count, I know someone that hasn't mastered LDing that has about 50/week, so yours must be way higher than that.

^^ There may be more to mastering LD'ing than just being able to consistently have them -- though that is certainly a good thing! For instance, I've been doing this for decades, have had many thousands of "on-demand" LD's, yet by no means do I consider myself a master of the art! Consistent LD'ing is an extremely valuable skill, but it is only a piece of the greater puzzle, and not its solution. Also, wouldn't a master be answering questions, and not still asking them?

That said, I must ask: if you are able to consistently LD with RC's, why do you wish to do without them? If something works, might as well go with it, right?

That said, you make a good point when you assume that you ought to be able to get lucid without RC's, because you know that there is more to be learned (there always is). I think if you spent time working on self-awareness, you might find yourself using RC's less and less -- though you likely will never fully discard them; I never use RC's to become lucid, but I still do them every day for their own value.

Also, time might show you different ways to become lucid: as you rack up more and more LD's, sheer experience will open new doors to other methods or routines -- I know I know, that's the standard "Be patient" advice, but I think it is sound advice as well.

tl;dr though mastery might still be in your future (and mine), you are fairly accomplished; I suggest you continue working with, and valueing, what you have, work on self-awareness, and new routes to lucidity will find you.

Okay, "mastering" was a bit misleading but I think the point is, is that I can lucid dream without struggle?

mastering lucid dreaming is about a whole lot more then simply becoming lucid consistently. That's like learning how to ice skate and thinking you've mastered hockey.

See - the problem with using a word like Master is that everybody will jump on that and ignore the real question. A beginner implying he's already mastered lucid dreaming just rubs people the wrong way. Much better to just say you've got the hang of it or something.

Well now you have to choose where you are going to take lucid dreaming. You can become lucid easily, now you decide what to spend your lucid time doing. You should read "The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep" and Robert Waggoner's book for ideas/direction. Would be a shame to waste your natural ability, you've got a opportunity to grow a lot.

I know you are talking about becoming lucid - I wish I could get them on demand - would be wonderful - will be wonderful!
But out of interest - are you completely happy with the length, stability, vividness, control etc.?
Have you tried simply setting intention and expectation upon going to sleep alone? Or WILD?

Twitch, being able to LD every night is the first step, if I sleep right I can LD multiple times a night (check competitions). Lately, sleeping right means just sleeping about 5+ hours the night of.

A goal for you:
2 months ago I hit a point, that no matter what dream I was in, I knew to some extent that I was dreaming. A lot of times my dream awareness was not high enough to slow down and do my own goals, but by the end of almost every dream I knew I was dreaming. I couldn't possibly count how many LDs I was having because looking back I would always know, but not always act, I lost my sleep training for a couple weeks (been extremely busy as I said, it is slowing down now). Try to get to a point that you know you are dreaming, even if you don't act on it. This is state awareness, always thinking about your state. After you get that, try to raise your state awareness so you can always act.

Just because someone else has discovered it, doesn't automatically mean you have experiential knowledge of it. Intellectual knowledge is not complete, simply reading other peoples experiences without looking into it yourself doesn't do anything for you.

How do you do reality checks that gets you to become lucid? A couple of years ago I feel I was in a similar situation, I would do really good RCs and then I would become lucid the next night, without doing any RCs in the dream, I just had more dream vs. life awareness, but for stupid reasons I've gotten out of practice doing RCs. Any advice on a good RC?
