I have some problems when going LD

Okay, as far I have been here ( not even for a week ) I did noticed it ( title ). I also remember today that I did LD with control when I was a kid ( about 8 yo ) I had a nightmare of a Werewolf "shadowy" monster would always eat me and one day I could control myself and "summoned/created" an armor and defeated it ( almost instantly finishing the dream and waking up ). From here, as far I can remember I never had such vivid dream that I also felt in control.

On another thread I created, I said that I can LD a few time and notice I am dreaming but suddenly I simply forget that I am dreaming andgo with the flow of the dream. My dream recall is very good I would say that for years most of times I remember what I was dreaming and even dream sequels ( example: 3 dream I had in one single night ), but there are 2 problems I guess:

-Dream signs: For me this is hard, I barely ever dreamed something normal. Normally it's something about movies, games, magic, zombies etc.
-Reality Check: I have been trying this since yesterday, but I forget to do it .... which probably lead me to forget to do it in a LD.

I have started a dream journal on a notepad, which I may not continue since I start working in the morning and can't be losing sleep to write it down ( which normally take a time, since I can remember well the dreams ). Should I just focus on RC and sometimes on dream journal? I also noticed I have less chance to LD or remember my dreams if I sleep not looking to the "roof".

Try writing just the keywords of the dream and when you have time you read them and write down the dream, while you have the keywords you won't forget the dream.
In the beginning you won't remember to do RCs but with time you will get used to do them. And there's a lot of other techniques that don't depends on doing RCs during the day.

Your story about confronting nightmares is surprisingly typical, I've found. Fortunately, I've never had a problem with nightmares.

Shame about the dream signs, though I suppose you could use zombies and the like, as a dream sign. Sort of reality check whenever you see them in films or games. As for reality checking, the habit is unlikely to stick after just one day, so I can only recommend keeping at it. Eventually, it'll become normal.

Focusing on the dream journal is fine, though I'd elevate it above "sometimes". Even if you can't remember a thing, scribble something relating to dreams, such as intentions or goals. Perhaps draw your most wanted dream scene. So long as its related to dreams, its fine.

Finally, if after a while, you find little success with this technique, you could always try WILD.

Well, I will try writing down only important scenes of the dream as it is simply and won't take much time. About RC, I will keep trying it and the dream signs .... I guess this will be the hard part to sort out, lol.

About the dream journal thing I wouldn't even bother with it if it takes too long. I have the same problem with DJ it takes too long writing them down in a book, the way I avoided this problem was by creating the dream character in a video game and so that every time I play that video game character that I dress up and forge to look like the dream character I will remember where it came from. It works really great I haven't written in my dream journal in a while and I still have great dream recall.

For dream signs if mostly everthing is out of the ordinary and have similar supernatural theme to it like always having some sort of zombie or weird monster then I would focus on that being your dream signs. Think about them in waking life and act as if you are becoming lucid from it. For RC try the counting fingers and asking what have you been doing in the last 5 mins. I find them to be very helpful in convincing myself this is a dream.
Another RC that helps me is jumping as it takes 3 seconds more to drop down

I definitely recommend just writing key words down in your dj then coming back and editing it later. Dream recall is very important, even if you feel like your recall is good

also RCs are great but make sure you aren't doing them out of habit and instead couple RC's with awareness. E.g really question if your dreaming when in waking life, does anything look out of place? Why are you in the specefic location you are at? What were you doing 5 minutes ago and what are ypu doing now? Then RC. You don't need to repeat all these questions everytime because that could make it into a mindless routine, taking the awareness out of the practice. There are articles on the site that explain this awareness + RC much better than me. I am on my phone now so I won't provide any links but Google "Sporadic Awareness Technique Dream Views" and there is a great article for DILDS on this site. If you want more resources look around the induction technique section of the site or even pm me and I will send you some other links
