I have heard that naps are great, even the afternoon naps, because you are suppose to go straight into REM. I guess you will have to try and see, how long after you wake up in the morning you have a dream in a nap.
But I have had great success with naps taken 1 hour after you wake up. I wake up at any normal time (7-9am), stay up for an hour, 1 1/2 hrs or so and then watch tv untill I fall asleep.
The original from LaBerge is:
1. Get up 90 min before your normal waking time
2. Stay up for 90 min - last 10 min do MILD - mantras
3. Take a 90 min nap
Because lucid dreams can occur during light sleep/dream cycles I would imagine that anytime is a good time to try to become lucid with a nap.
I have success with afternoon naps. 3pm seems to be a great time, for me (waking at 6:30am most mornings).
If you don't have your full 8/9 hours of sleep, I think it makes it easier for you to get into REM sleep straightaway when you nap.
I've gotten a LD once in a nap I took during the late afternoon.
Both of my 2 lucids occured during naps from 4 to 5-6pm. So i would guess it's a great time to LD. xD
Any excuse for a nap is good, in my opinion. Lets try a nap once per hour to determine the best time.
Naps are good for LD's, particularly good if you nap after a good meditation session.
Well, I once woke up at nine in the morning, stayed up for about an hour, went to sleep, and had a lucid dream, so it's possible that early morning naps are quite effective. However, I've heard far more success stories from afternoon naps than I have morning naps, so you might have more success with the second.
