Don't take it as a failure, because it's not. It most likely won't work immediatelly or every time. But if you keep practicing, it will get better.

I found that watching something that leaves deep impact on me influences my dreams. So let's say you want to dream about castles and waterfalls - check out some stuff on youtube just before going to bed. I'm sure there are some videos of cool castles and waterfalls. Feel amazed while watching it.
