Hi guys, I was just wondering if it's normal or average to spend over a week attempting to get a lucid dream, when do most people get their first one? And I've been doing reality checks and thinking about lucid drams before sleep? When on average do people get their first one?
It varies for different people, a week and a half is nothing to be honest. It took me personally a month, but takes some people a lot longer.
Haha, I've been trying to success for about a half a year now and it still doesn't work ;3
It took me 10 weeks to have my first lucid dream which only lasted for 5 seconds :p
Fuck me, I was aiming to start getting em in 6 weeks holiday, which is now and I'm like halfway through it, so I have just over 3 weeks to try and get my first one :panic:
If you stay confident and determined you will get a lucid dream by the time the 6 week's holiday ends :)Quote:

That must be quite frustrating. I admire your perseverance. By the way, what do you mean exactly when you say "semi-lucid"?
I just mean, I might realize for a second that it's a dream, but then I don't really do anything about it. Either that, or I immediately wake up when it happens.Quote:

You haven't waited very long at all. :3 It took me about two weeks to get my first lucid dream while trying, but some people wait months before they have their first one though. Don't let that discourage you though!
Also it was probably easier for me because I had a few natural lucids as a child.
I've been lucid dreaming for about 3 months and I've only had 4...you have to be patient and I heard that you should stick to one technique
Sticking to one technique isn't really recommended or at least I would hope not. It leads to a lot of a dry spells in which people just don't know what to do.Quote:

Learning to LD is a very non-linear process where you will, if you want good results, attempt several different methods, possibly conduct a few small personal experiments, and even more. idk. I would probably have given up on lucid dreaming if it wasnt for my first Experience with Intense and I mean INTENSE vibrations and auditory hallucinations. It was the craziest feeling i felt in my life. Youre on your bed and all of a sudden it feels youre traveling warp speed down down an endless black void. Even though i didnt transition into a dream through wild/deild it was enough to make me keep trying.
Im focusing on Dilds and MILDs now since ive got a couple without trying really. It will happen one day if you just keep trying.
Focus on MILD! Mantras and other tricks are something that every one should be doing. Avoid simple mistakes, like only trying WiLD and doing it at bedtime instead of WBTB. WILD sounds cool, but is for after you have some DILDs which you cause through MILD tricks. RC and think a lot about it are examples of MILD tricks, but add in a few more. Read a few threads on MILD or sign up for the DVA class.
It took me about 2 months to start getting LDs, and about 6 months for them to really last and be vivid. Honestly, a week and a half is barely any time at all. You are trying to learn one of thee coolest, most mystical mental tricks in the world, so give it time, it is worth it!
