      DEILD fail... but so close!

      Hi,
I've tried to do a DEILD a couple of times each night for about 3-4 nights. I've set a relaxing alarm which stops itself after 15 seconds. I was able to wake up imediately after a dream (I set the alarm after about 4 hours from when I fell asleep), and I managed to stay still and not to open my eyes (I didn't even swallow).
But after that I cannot continue the DEILD: I just feel too "awake" and even if I try to focus on my last dream, I find it hard to fall asleep again (I read on various tutorials that it takes about 1 minute to re-enter the last dream lucidly).

What shall I do? What am I doing wrong?
You can do anything you set your mind to, man."

I think you may study your REM cycle. It's different for each person. Some can DEILD after 4 hours of sleep, others can DEILD after 5 or 6 hours. You have to try and find it by yourself.
      And welcome to DreamViews!

      Hi,

I think you woke up too much. I mean DEILD is about that brain stay in REM if you woke up spontaneous. Alarm clock can woke you up too much, and your brain switch to beta waves, you become too awake. I think it's possible to DEILD with help of alarm clock, you just need set it shorter alarm duration. The goal is you just barely wake up.

First of all, props for the name.
About the DEILD, make sure there's nothing distracting you from your objective, like noise, or even too much light coming through the window.

im in the same boat. Ive been attempting DEILDs for about 3-4 days with only 1 attempt sending me into sleep paralysis. Heres what i did and what im going try again. Do your normal wake back to bed. I notice that i have to get up and take a piss for the WBTB because i do this naturally. Set another alarm for like an hour or two after you fall back asleep. Usually youll be tired as hell and shut off the alarm and fall back asleep. Here if you have good recall you can attempt DEILDs from remembering the dreams or you can set alarms like every hour after your first WBTB and hopefully you get it

It is much better to do a natural DEILD. Your technique sounds more like a WILD as you state that you ' set a relaxing alarm which stops itself after 15 seconds'. If you ask me that sounds more like a WILD than a DEILD. The next time you awaken from a dream naturally try visualizing that very same dream without moving. Otherwise time your WILD attempt for 5 hours after you think you will be asleep.

Its a lot harder not to move if you don't know you're going to wake up. That's why he uses the alarm clock.

I'd say use a way shorter alarm, more like 5 seconds. Xpin2winx also makes an excellent point to wake up once before, that usually works a well.
