Recording yourself reading a book to help visualize?

I have been working on lucid dreaming for about 2 weeks, using WILD during a nap and before bed. I can get to the hypogenia (I don't have the slightest clue how to properly spell this word) but I can't ever get any farther. My body feels weird, like if you flip the antenna on a car, the way it bounces and moves? I assume that's the vibrations some feel. But that's as far as it goes.

I think I try too hard to look with my eyes, and not my mind. I'm an avid reader, with no difficulty picturing things in my mind. But when it comes to daydreaming, or visualising on my own, I fail.

Anyway, I was wondering if I recorded myself reading a book, replacing the main character's name with my own, and listen to it while trying a WILD if I would be able to get lucid? That's the only point I fail, is visualising. I'm on mobile so excuse any errors. Thanks! :3

That reminds me, has anyone ever slept with someone feeding them suggestions while they slept?

For instance someone whispering suggestions to them, not to wake the person but try to guide their dreams.

I've tried taping myself and using an alarm to speak to me, to wait until I'm asleep, but it always scared the crap out of me when it went off.

CandieMichelle: why not try it for a bit and see how it works? If anything, it would probably provide interesting dream fodder if you fell asleep while it was playing. Also, if the content entered your dream, it might be enough to remind you that you are actually asleep and listening to your audio tape (which could spark a LD). It would seem distracting to me (too much sound to focus on) but everyone is different.

Yeah it seems like it would be an amazing aide, but it does seem to bother me more than help as well.

It's not as subtle as you'd think. It's almost like you try to concentrate on what it's saying, so you wake up. It really doesn't seem to pervade your dreams like you think it might. Which makes you wonder if dreaming turns off most sensory perception.

I agree, give it a try. I was somewhat disappointed in trying something similar.

Thank you. (: I guess it really wouldn't hurt to try. I agree though, it may be too distracting but I used to listen to audio books to help me sleep so maybe it will work. I usually use a ambient sound to help me get lucid, although it hasn't worked yet. Like you said though, worth a shot!

Did you try it already? I agree though, it may do more harm than good but it's still worth a shot.

I'm hoping that just getting a few minutes of it in will help me visualize well enough to get there. Thank you for your imput though!

You can record yourself using some mantras, put some nice music and listen to it as you drift of to sleep.

You can also do that with brainwaves and then, let's say you play it after waking up in the middle of the night, calculate how long it takes for you to fall asleep and then, record "Yourname, you are lucid dreaming." Very softly (you want this to play when you are asleep) It might help. Just an idea that came out of the blue... as when your name is called, your awareness spikes.
Click the door... and welcome to my dream world!
