      Join me! Cycle adjustment technique (CAT)

      Well I'm here to talk about one of the lesser known induction methods. Cycle adjustment technique (CAT for short) seems to be a very unused, very successful method of lucid dreaming.

      So I say we set up a little experiment. I'm going to use the cycle adjustment technique for a few weeks and see how it works. For the validity of this experiment I would like many other people to join.

      This will be my first night. Going to sleep at 11:00 every night. On the days I have to wake up early (and the first seven days) I will set my alarm for 5:30. and on normal days I will set it for 7:00. Unless its on a Weekend. Then I will just sleep in as long as I want.

      This might turn out to not be enough sleep. It could help with rem rebound, or hurt the experiment. If the latter happens then I will (after a few weeks) adjust my sleep time accordingly.

      I'd love to try this but I hardly get enough sleep on school days to begin with. . I'm surprised more people don't talk about this technique very much, ive only heard it mentioned a few times.

      I'm doing some kind of a CAT, I think. Most of the days I wake up around 3:30 for a WBTB. On one of the nights I didn't get up, I got a DILD at the time I'm usually up for WBTB. It was interesting. Happy dreams

      Mad monkey- I understand. I'll probably start having to go to bed earlier. Hopefully this thread will make CAT more popular on this site.

      Gab- That's not really CAT since you didn't adjust your cycle. I would just call it a lucky DILD . Congrats on the lucid and thanks for the support!

      This is my first day of waking up. The alarm went off and I heard it in my dream as something else. When I realized what it was I was angry at having to wake up. It's 5:30 here and the rest of the people in my house don't get up until 7:00. I don't want to wake them so I'm going to surf dreamviews until then, listening to binaural beats to keep me awake.

      Sure, it's not a classic CAT, when you wake up 90 min before your regular wake time for a week and then you sleep in. But the principle is the same - when you get up every day at same time, your body gets used to being awake at that time and then on days you sleep through it, it 'wakes up' thinking you will get up and you get a DILD. Good luck with your CAT and happy dreams

      Yeah, but you didn't actually adjust your sleep cycle.

      Anyway I'm pretty dead right now. I'm not getting any sleep. I'm going to start going to bed earlier. So I will take a week from this "experiment" and then get right back into it.
