My new method to get used to RCing fast

Hey guys , I just wanted to share my experience from the last day . A bit of history : been trying for an year (at least ) now , I changed up tactics a few times (tried WILD-s , WBTB-s ) with close to none success (no direct methods worked , just had some short DILDs) .
So in the last week or so I started reading some more again , and decided to go for the indirect methods . I'm too lazy to keep a dream journal for now (tried it in the past , but I just haven't refined a way to keep journaling (not get too lazy) ) , but I do remember a lucid dream every time (however little times there were) .
The method is viable for the people that spend more time on their computers , but I believe it can be adapted otherwise too .I noticed that I hear my mobile phones ring tone even if it's not ringing now and then and thought that a frequent very distinct sound could be a very good indicator to make a reality check , since there's a good chance the noise will appear now and then even without you hearing it . So I scheduled a beep (freq:1500, for some reason I think higher frequencies will appear easier in the mind) to go off every 15 minutes .
And it did , and every 15 mins I made a RC (I tried to float) . Now what I'm happy and in the same time frustrated about is that the night after I started doing that I had a dream that was vivid and very weird (a dog with wings ) and I did remember to RC , but the stupid RC (floating) didn't work . So now I'm changing up RCs but I'm pretty bumped about not being able to say that the new technique worked the first day

I'd be very interested to get feedback from someone else that tries it . Here's what I did for Linux by the way :
Look up some info of how crontab (a scheduling servise) works - it's very simple . In short :

chrontab -l // to see what tasks there already are
chrontab -e //to open the config file (best choose nano when prompted)

there's an explanation about how crontab works in the file itself . Here's what I added :

      15 * * * * /home/lucid.sh
      30 * * * * /home/lucid.sh
      45 * * * * /home/lucid.sh
      0 * * * * /home/lucid.sh

ctrl-X to exit , Y to save the file

      and in lucid.sh there's just :

modprobe pcspkr; //to activate the pc speaker because it's inactivated by default in the kernel
      beep -f 1500 //do the beep

You need a dream journal. I may not have lucid dreams but a journal is vital!

It helps you recall your dreams and come up with more reality checks.

I've tried something like this before (an app that reminded me to RC) and it never worked for me. I found that the best way (for me at least) is to just automatically remember it by yourself without the aid of an external signal. It has brought me more success. I shall give this a try, though.

Well the idea is to get used to the habit faster , and not just to relay on the app . That's really what I noticed happened today (as it's my second day doing that) - even when I went out for quite a while , the thought of reality/dream was way more consistent than any other time I'd tried RCing regularly .

This sort of method does work for people, and not just for remembering to do things. It's all about building up a habit, which is great, but also possibly bad in a way as you might end up doing them without thought, rendering the whole action useless. What's the point in an R.C if you don't notice your doing it?

But this would work. I heard of a man who tried a similar thing, but for a different circumstance. He wanted to develop his navigation and directional senses, so he wore a belt that at every 5 minutes or so would vibrate on whatever part of it was facing north at that time. It would vibrate on the front if he was facing north for example. After a month of wearing it, he took it off, and he found he could sense which way was north at any given time, even if his eyes were closed. His accuracy was so great he could point to his house from 60km away and be correct to within 100 meters.

So if you set a noise to make you think (and do) a reality check every 15mins or whatever, hopefully it will build up on your so you do them without needing the prompt, but you still NOTICE doing them too. That's where this can fall short for you. But it's a great technique none the less.
