      Question Lack of in-dream awareness?

      Hey guys
been having a serious problem of late, hoping some of you guys could help me and offer some advice?

Now I know that with lucid dreaming, believing is key to attaining lucidity and general dream control and believe me, I have not had any doubt about my ability to attain lucidity up until this point. However I've reached the stage now where I've been trying techniques for several weeks now and as of yet have not had any results. I have been working on awareness and check reality constantly throughout the day using several checks, as well as checking where I am, what I'm doing, is it logical etc etc . .
I've also been working on DILD/MILD techniques combined with WBTB.

My dreams have been more regular as a result, experiencing one or two vivid dreams a night, a huge improvement over previous months where I believed I did not dream at all. However I have run into one big problem, that I do not question reality at all once in a dream. None of the reality checking or auto-suggestions or anything seem to carry over into the dreamworld.

Help and suggestions appreciated as always guys

Lately i have been having the same problem as well. I have been able to remember my dreams and write down the majority of the dream, however, i have not been working on awarness or doing any reality checks, nor am i using any technique. I have had many lucid dreams and the past, and looking back on the days when LDs were frequent, i remember recording lots of dream sighns in my dream journal. I made a list of things that appeared weird, and noticed in my dreams these sighns kept reocurring. For example, i often am in hallways in my dreams that seem to always make me feel lost in confused. this has happened in several dreams and after recording it on my dream sighns list several times, it became almost instant that i realized i was dreaming when i was in a hallway. during the day while in hallways i would take note that perhaps i am in a dream right now and do a couple RCS, also when i felt lost i would do a RC. this seemed to work for me, i understand everyone is different in the way they achieve lucidity. i wish you the best of luck in your dreams and hope i have been able to help

      Hey whitedreams
I like you can recall dreams pretty perfectly and write them down as recommended in my DJ. I don't seem to have any dream signs other than me being in a completely new environment, I never seem to have dreams at school for example. It seems to me like I am in the dream and have some overwhelming sense of something being off but never have the thought to even question if I'm in a dream. In contrast to that my waking life is seeming more dream-like every day, with odd things and references to dreaming popping up all the time
Perhaps never having had a lucid dream puts me at a disadvantage as I don't know the "feeling" of having a dream?

I know what you mean, its like right when i wake up i feel like man there is no way i could have been lucid there. i think back on the dream and its like holy shit why did i like accept all these things to be true? You said being in a completley new enviorment is something that you can remember as a dream sighn, thats perfect! OFten during the day il ask my self, alright how did i get here? I mean think about it, how often in waking life do you have to really think hard about remembering what you did yesterday? I feel as if its the same in the dream world, but since dreams are shorter than a full day its a little more difficult. I have had a few lucids just posing that very question to myself, and often in my dreams it wont take more than a second to realize that there is no possible way i could be awake cause il be in like the freaking carribean or what ever.
I also am constantly seeing people and things in my waking life that remind me of recent dreams. For example last night i was non lucid and beat this shit out of this kid from school, and at school he walked by me and it was like woaaah thats weird. I feel like the more i experience these moments, the ability to become lucid will increase. I have a feeling your really close to your lucid dreams if your making these connections. Hmm and you pose and interesting question at the end, in some ways i feel like after having lucid dreams im at a disadvantage cause im slightley scared of them now....(they feel really intense) i think that if you just keep setting your intentions and knowing you will have a lucid dream.you will have it. thats all it took for me

I think you're right as I do feel a lucid is creeping gradually towards me, and I know that the benefits of achieving lucidity will be worth all the hassle and doubt
Is it normal to feel slightly less "attached" to my waking life, as if I'm looking at a scenario I'm in from a spectators standpoint rather than someone who's directly involved in the plot unfolding around them?

haha yeah totally kinda feels like your watching a play. Also from a moral stand point thats going to work out in your favor cause if you can see things as more of an observor, you will not commit so much emotion into scenarios like when someone makes fun of you or people are acting funny, and end up getting fearful or agitated. it becomes easier to accept these situation, cause you see these people more like dream characters who are harmless in their nature but just a lil routey at times haha. what your feeling is actually kind of a gift if you think about, i say run with it, if anything it will probably improve your AWArness and help you achieve lucidity.

DJ's are useful for recall, but don't mistake the purpose. Dream signs are NOT required to LD. And I'm not sure why, but I think you're right about the detachment. I also agree with whitedreams that that can be a good thing. It makes you think more somehow. That's good for both awareness (and therefore LDing) and your personal developement in general.

I guess I find awareness easier in general than some people as I'm generally quieter and more introverted in social situations. Still I don't seem to be questioning anything once in a dream :/

It can take a while for awareness to settle in. Also, don't forget to make sure that your awareness is active, constantly questioning. This can be very overwhelming at first, but always keep actively doing it. It WILL eventually transfer to your dreams. I personally like to combine ADA (All Day Awareness, a DILD-type technique) with DEILD. That way I place my bets on both a DILD-type and a WILD-type method, which I am sure will continue to increase my LD frequency. I don't know how good you are with recall, but it might be a good idea to keep a DJ combined with a DILD-type technique (I think you already are, but I'm adding it anyway).

I should add that DILD-techniques are not ideal for everyone. If you still have no results after another few weeks, it might be a good idea to try something new (I really recommend DEILD, it is the easiest form of WILD in my opinion). If this turns out to be the case, you may not want to completely give up trying to be aware throughout the day. Combining awareness with other techniques usually adds to the amount of LD's. It won't have a negative effect on them either way, so it gives a good expected value.

I seem to have alot more success with WILD based techniques so I think I might focus more on that

As of yet, not really. In one of my other posts i've had a semi-lucid dream (look it up if you want, I guess) but the closest I've got with WILD is through a WBTB and a MILD
