      Accidentally non lucid DEILD?

The title is a little confusing, so i'll essentially describe what happens. My usual attempts at LD have me falling asleep naturally around 2am, waking up at 6am (via alarm) and then snoozing for the next 3-4 hours with hourly alarms waking me up. I usually remember about 4 or 5 dreams in the period between 6am and 10am.

This morning after waking and snoozing till about 7, i went into a non lucid dream where i had broken my replacement phone. I walked down the street complaining to myself that i was clumsy, then suddenly i think i woke up and realised I had been dreaming (I was lying down in my student bed and the covers felt familiar). I didn't think to move and my eyes didn't open, i just knew i had been dreaming. Then about 10 seconds later i passed out for about a second and woke up in my bed back at home in another non lucid dream. But i recall telling my mum that I had had a dream where i had broken my phone. After this dream played out I woke up finally in my student bed (via the alarm going off).

Did i DEILD without achieving Lucidity or did I achieve lucidity in one dream and have a false awakening. Or was it something completely different lol.

I've never tried DEILDing before and I have always failed at WILDing so this is all new for me but has motivated me somewhat to try it again. Cheers in advance

I think it was just a regular bunch of dreams. You dreamed about being in bed and normal stuff. The content doesn't make a lucid dream, it's your awareness. If we all slept in caves in bear carcasses and you dreamed about being in one of those, it would be the same thing. You just happened to dream about being in bed, and dream about doing "nearly-lucid" stuff.

Do you go to bed/sleep at 2am or do you just wake up first at 2am then go through your alarms and stuff? If you stay up til 2am then I would recommend going to bed earlier, so when you get to your hourly alarms you will be that bit more rested and therefore more awake, which helps with awareness.

Thanks for the reply! I thought as much. I had hoped i might have accidentally stumbled upon something by accident, but it was wishful thinking haha xD. Must keep trying!

Unfortunately with my current work schedule, i'm usually up till around 2 working on projects with flat mates. We seem to be most productive 8-2. Should i set my hourly alarms from 8 -11 perhaps? It gives me the extra 2 hours, or will i be more tired regardless of when i wake up because i am going to be at 2?

Thanks again for the reply =]

You would want at least 4 hours sleep to rest your body, or to get proper sleep. However to avoid being completely f**ked in the morning you would want another 3 or 4 hours on that. Those 3 or 4 hours are perfect for setting your alarms and what not, as the mind sleeps this time around (and dreams) and you have already had your "core" sleep so you are technically more alert to become lucid. So just work in those hours in a way that suits you. If you don't feel really tired as you are going to bed then thats fine. You could go to sleep at 4am and if you don't feel particularly sleepy then it's ok. On the reverse side you could go to bed at 8 but if you are super knackered then it's worse.

Yeah, DEILD stand for Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dreams.
Since you were not lucid, it wasn't a DEILD.
