I haven't lost motivation, but I can see where you are coming from, perhaps you need to take a look at your technique. |

since you began to make an effort to LD. |

I think I did mantras and visualizations for a few months consistently, and it got me to the point where I had 10+ LD's a month from 3. If you stick with a technique and don't give up, you'll see results. Although I'm struggling a bit atm with motivation, but I'm sure a full blown lucid and a solid task should get me back on track. Almost been at it for two years now and had two periods of low motivation. |

Losing motivation sucks, yeah, but at the same time, I keep telling myself that my dreams are solely mine - and I only pursue going lucid when Im asleep - so motivation should not really be able to be lost! |

LD Count - 11
Spoiler for Current Lucid Goals:
I lose my motivation all the time buddy. Like a few weeks ago, I just forgot about all this stuff, did nothing, expect dream journal. People say taking a break helps, and it may do, but for me my dreams just went. When I had two nights in a row remembering nothing, I got back into it. |

......
Never, went with RCs for years without losing motivation thanks to nightmares, though knowledge of techniques was not on my side. |
|
Took me a year and a half till i started to worry about other things. Its not that i lost motivation I just wasn't as determined(that might be the same thing as losing motivation, don't hurt me if it is |

Well, two things have kept me motivated although I guess 3 months isnt a long time trying. First, I keep a really cool dream journal... Leather with a neat symbol on the front. Bought at barnes and nobels if anyone cares... Looks like something a wizard would keep, as I'm a fantasy buff. Also my dreams, although rarely lucid, are pretty cool. I journal every night and recall at least one dream every night. This journal is for posterity. Hey, on the forums you think everyone does this. Not so! Most muggles dont even know about this world or believe it even when you try to tell them. This journal is my journey which proves this stuff is real. |
|
I haven't exactly lost motivation, but the focus on lucid dreaming faded out over the months. The area I have lost motivation in is awareness to cause lucids. It seems very time consuming. |
|
No such thing as losing my motivation. Lucid dreaming too closely resembles my lifelong goal, it even practically surpasses it. No way would I EVER lose motivation on that. |
|
For me it was when I was a freshman in college. I started seriously trying to LD when I was a junior in high school i think, so I was going strong for about 2 years. As soon as college got here, I started getting involved with a lot of stuff and just kinda forgot about LDing altogether. I guess you could say waking life got the best of me haha. Luckily I had a few random lucids that kept reminding me of the possibilities. Now my motivation is back and I'm ready to commit 110% |
|
"But if this is only a dream, does it follow, one day must we wake up? But if this is only a dream, I could just..."
My first time losing motivation was about a month after I started, about a week after my first lucid dream. I go on and off every month or so. I'll try for about 4 weeks, quit for a month, and start again. |

I maintained motivation for about 6months or more. But then I got a fucking job... |
|
I never lost motivation. What happened though, when I hit a rough patch in my life, it was as if I hit the wall and could not LD. All is good now. When you not happy for some reason, it's hard to LD, at least for me. |
|
I´m been having somewhat little motivation to start trying LD again with school interfering so badly with it. |

3 weeks as well, but as soon as I realised I was slacking, I picked it right up again. No lucids, but my recall has gone up to 6 dreams last night, so I'm motivated again. |
|
Spoiler for Dream Goals:
Eh, it shifts I guess, once you reach a certain point, the strain level goes down a lot and lucidity comes easier. But your mindset like that is also holding you back, a very common flaw we experience is overdoing trying to become lucid, you want to relax. |

My motivation to really try to get LDs fell after around 9 months from starting but i still occasionally tried to get LDs, nowadays its been really long since i have last tried to WILD, in comparison i tried it around 3 times a week for like 6 months(without going through the basics first of course) at first. |

I'm constantly losing my motivation. I was going t start a thread about something very similar to this. I'm tired of repeating over and over to myself "I'll be dreaming tonight" or whatever other mantra come up with and nothing happens. I'm tired of waking up after 6 hours of sleep to do WBTB and nothing happens. I've had many lucid dreams but it just seems like they don't stick! I've been lucid dreaming for about a year now and it just seems like they would happen every night or I'd be at least semi-conscious that I'm dreaming, NOPE! It's the same as it's always been; I go to sleep and just pass out, if I don't TRY t remember dreams even though I've kept a dream journal for a year, I won't remember anything. *Sigh* I'm searching for something that will make me lucid dream EVERY night. I don't want to hear "Reality checks" or "dream journal" that is amateur advice, no offense. I have done so many reality checks, uuuuhhh nevermind. What makes people lucid every night? Has anyone discovered this? Some people tell me I need to relax, fine. What really ticks me off are natral lucid dreamers. Sorry for the rant. |

No problem being jealous or angry with natural lucid dreamers. But they are not the cause of your problem either. |

......
I do reality checks in accordance with my dream sign(s).. It's usually a train or a famous person, if I don't do those I look at my hands, very adamantly and vigorously check my surroundings and question myself. How do you do a reality check wrong? My dream recall comes and goes even though I write down whatever I can remember whenever I remember it.. Am I doing that wrong too? Thanks for the advice. |

Reality checks should be done more often than when you see your dreamsigns, but they shouldn't be abused. What I mean is you should do as many reality checks as possible, but make each one count. Do more and do them better. I'm not trying to imply you are doing them wrong... but you aren't having success with them are you? |
|
......
LOL! I've only had success with reality checks a few times.. I've also read about other people who have had no success with reality checks.. I think it was king yoshi here who doesn't even do reality check but practices ADA.. I like ADA but it's strains me.. I mean it drains me of energy.. I think I have a problem because it's extremely hard for me to fall asleep at night.. MY TV IS ALWAYS OFF lol but I am always on my laptop researching so.. laptop off an hour early.. thank you! |
