lol big ass science machine
I hate when someone tells me something is placebo, basically ruins it for me.
I'm jealous of people who are highly suggestible. It would be really awsome if we could recognise things as placebos and then still use them effectively, harnessing their power, but alas... Maybe that will be a future scientific breakthrough, how to use placebos to your advantage.
Wait, I am confused. Whats placebo?
I think we should all design an LD'ing technique, that is complete BS, and then wait for some noobs to come and tell them to test it out first, before they try the other ones.
See what happens.
It is like Dumbo's magic feather. It is sad that we can get so much benefit from tricking ourselves.
Cant watch the video where i am but i know of the placebo effect,
So its possible to trick others, but is it possible to trick yourself? i cant find much to support it..
Like, what if you decided to beleive so much that if you ate some cheese before sleep you would have lucid dreams? You know its not true but, if you beleive something enough, then its essentially true, to you anyway
Or, would it be like inception 'the mind can always trace the origin of an idea' therefore it wouldnt work?
Or is that quote false..
eating cheese does give you lucid dreams.
?
Do you have any support for that statement?
im not sure what, but cheese contains some nutrients that aid in sleep and dreaming
I thought it was a clever joke, you know, shadowofself asks, "what if you decided to beleive so much that if you ate some cheese before sleep you would have lucid dreams?" and solarflare says, "eating cheese DOES give you lucid dreams." Now we can all believe cheese will give us LDs because solarflare, with 3,365 posts under his belt, is baically our LDers human version of a big ass science machine and cheese is our new placebo. :cheeky:
I know I'd heard something about a link between cheese and dreams before and this was it:
Sweet dreams are made of cheese | Mail Online
Apparently there is a myth that cheese gives you nightmares which The British Cheese Board (biased?) debunked. What I find sketchy about the study is that they are claiming differnet kinds of cheese produce different kinds of dreams like "celebrity dreams". There is, however, an amino acid in cheese that can help you sleep -- also in milk and why people have that before bed.
Maybe so, either way im eating lots of cheese tonight
Belief is the most powerful tool you can ever find.
"You'll have to believe in things that aren't true, how can they else become?"
I'm inclined to agree but I just read this: Placebos work -- even without deception It's about a study that shows how placebos work even when people know they are taking placebos. Pretty cool (and bizarre).
Don't mess with placebo unless you know what your doing. I just think we use placebo's every day with out even realizing it.
Amazing video, thank you for sharing! Belief is a double edged sword, you can use it against yourself, but can also use it to make a lot of things possible. Yesterday I had believed myself into feeling a certain way, and I'm amazed at the result. Simply with the power of my belief, I was able to change my brain chemistry and feel incredible.
Maybe I can believe in my self that I'm a good person and not a bad person, I wonder how the results will come... Changing negative to positive... I wonder how that works. Wonder if it will work with depression...
This video helped me create a brand new tool. This is the big ass science machine:
Augmented reality hypnosis with iPhone.
Stay tuned, I may post a few videos in the next few days
