What was the first LD you have had. I've been trying for almost a year, off and on due to school, to get my first LD but I have yet to get more than a couple few second dreams one of which was in black and white. I was just wondering what everyone used to get lucid the first time. Not the best method to use, just the first method to use.
Last night was my first LD, I find keeping a dream journal is a must as it helps with recall and keeps your mind more on dreams. Use a mantra and keep your awareness up during the day. Reality check when ever you see something ODD I find is a lot more effective then just randomly doing it though out the day.

My first LD (since I started trying again) came from my habit of doing a reality check every time I wake up. Doing that thwarts all your false awakenings (when dream that you have woken up in your bed) and turns them into free LDs.
I CAN'T BELIEVE I JUST REMEMBERED THIS AMAZING TRICK NOW. WHAT THE FUDGE IS WRONG WITH ME THAT I'D FORGET SOMETHING SO AWESOME.
I didn't really do anything to get my first, I just noticed that a toilet was floating in the air, and that pretty much made me aware I was dreaming ^^
You can try to go at DV at night just before going to bed I found that help getting my first DILDs
