Hi I'm new and have some startup questions

Ok so I just registered here, and I briefly read some things about Lucid Dreaming.
My situation / question is that I barely dream AT ALL right now... I will have maybe 1 dream a week if im lucky... or every other week... I don't know if its just I have completely zero memory of my dream when I wake up or just plain not dreaming.

So is there something I should do first about this issue before trying for Lucid Dreaming? I am extremely interested in Lucid Dreaming and Dream Control and I know it will take time but I look at it as you gotta go to sleep anyway... you're not doing anything that you wouldn't before other than remembering, recording and realizing everything about your dream.

Thanks, I hope to keep up with you guys here and see some progress.

      Welcome!

It is highly likely likely that you are having many dreams every night (7+), and simply don't remember them. Don't worry, just give it some time. Pay more attention to your sleep, be consistent with your dream journal (even if you can only write down a feeling or fleeting thought upon awakening, its better than nothing), and perhaps repeat a mantra before bed, such as "I will remember my dreams".

There are some great tutorials around here for whatever technique you decide to try. I recommend reading anything you can find on DILD, MILD, and ADA, although if you feel you would like WILD better, give it a try. I also would recommend meditation of any kind to help you focus and be more aware. It has numerous benefits which extend beyond lucid dreaming.

The work you put into lucid dreaming will be worth it, so good luck!

Hi, welcome to Dreamviews! The issue isn't that your not dreaming, the issue is you don't remember the dreams! Everyone has dreams every night you just need to work on your recall! Check out this dream recall tutorial, i'm sure it will help you. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to message me!

Thank you so much for the quick replies, my girlfriend actually said that everyone has dreams every night... that its just about remembering them... but wow 7+ dreams in a night?? thats crazy lol... but ya I just started looking into this stuff after watching Inception (pretty good movie, loved the mental hold it had on you)... and it got me interested. I will definitely start reading about all these WILD, DILD and all that other stuff I have no idea about right now.
Thanks again, I shall post here if I have any progress.

The amount of dreams you have will depend on how much sleep you have and your own nuances in your sleep cycles, but you can rest assured you have atleast 3-5 in 8-9 hours sleep

Your recall is something that you will find will skyrocket quickly when you start to pay attention to it. If you're not already, start a dream journal and stick to it. Put as much detail as you can into the entries you make.

If you stick to it, you'll soon start having lucid dreams really often! If you've got any questions just post them on the forum and plenty of people will be able to help you out

      Welcome, and good luck!

I am/was on a similar boat to you. I just started thinking a lot about dreaming and slowly my recall was around one dream a day. I was super happy about this and then remembered hearing about "lucid Dreaming" and found this site. From being able to recall one dream a night I've gone from 3-5+ by just writing them down. I HIGHLY suggest you use a dream journal, just write down what you can remember when you wake up, as soon as you wake try and keep your eyes closed and don't move around to much you will be surprised at what you can recall.

Last night I had my first Lucid Dream, I have only been using a dream journal for 3 days but it has helped A LOT with recall. I also repetitively told myself "A Dream character will tell me I'm dreaming", and in one of my dreams one of my friends said "I love how easy it is to read peoples minds in dreams." I also had another friend constantly tell me something was wrong with his hand in another dream.

      Welcome and good luck

wow Hopsin that sounds very interesting to tell yourself that a dream character will tell you that you are dreaming.

Yeah, I believe it has a name. I keep on saying it in my head as I was falling asleep.

      Good Luck.

      *Edit* It's called a "Mantra".

      Hi!
You are definitely dreaming each night. People, on average, have 2-7 a night. You'll have to keep a dream journal of some sort to help remember your dreams. My high score of dreams remembered in a night is six, and another night I had seven FAs in a row. I stopped using my DJ for a while, and I started to only remember about one or two every other night.
Are you asleep and imagining you're reading this or imagining you're asleep and actually reading this?

      Hey there,
I would advise that you drink some apple juice (or even eat an apple) about 30-60 minutes before you go to sleep. It helps with dream vividness and can work for recall. When you wake up, what you should do is lay in bed without moving to much with an empty mind (almost as if to go back to sleep) and dreams and/or dream fragments should come back to you.
      Good luck!
