Does anyone even do DEILD? |

"[...] As a result, the practitioner may decide that a parallel world has been entered: the world beyond, the astral plane, mental space, or the ether. Although travel in the phase can lead to many places, this does not mean that the phase allows travel through or use of actual, alternate worlds. The practitioner should be reasonable"
Michael Raduga (A Practical Guidebook, p.172)
I do it sometimes. It seems to be hit or miss. Depending on where you are in your sleep cycle, you may not have any dreams to return to. It works best if you feel your dream was interrupted for whatever reason. If you wake directly from a dream, are woken by your dog barking, an alarm, ect. Did you feel like you ended up being completely awake? Or in some other stage of sleepiness? |
|
The dream seemed to just end, without any sort of conclusion. There rarely is, but this one was in the middle of something. When I woke up, it was pretty early, and I was fairly awake. Like I could have just lay in until morning maybe, though I probably would have fallen back asleep. I could have stayed awake easily. |

I do! I'm not sure I can give much advice since I never really "tried" and my first time was by accident. |

Did you stop breathing or "freeze" when you remembered not to move? Changing your breathing pattern can kill a DEILD attempt; most of my own failures come from that. Visualizing a dream (be it new or the one you just woke from) can help if you feel like you need to do something extra to get back in the dream. And like Robot Butler said, sometimes you just don't end up DEILDing at the right time. You might be at the end of a REM cycle, for instance. |

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I did open my eyes but only for a second as I went "Oh shit, keep them closed for DEILD". I didn't move, maybe a little twitch but nothing more. My breathing didn't change I don't think, and I didn't panic either. I think it' might just have been at the wrong time of night. I read up on REM, and I think mine had just finished, so I woke up as soon as my last dream ended, so I was out of time. |

Good luck then! |

Won't need it, I'm good to go, thanks anyway! |

Every DEILD I've done has been an attempt at lucid recovery. Whenever I'm lucid and notice that I'm about to wake up, I relax, and remind myself not to move. Then I can slip back into the dream. I usually just "feel around" until I get a tugging sensation, and them I'm jerked upwards into a dream world, or an environment forms. However, I can never remember to remain still from non-lucid dreams-- I need to be conscious before waking. |

Rawr!
Yeah, thats what it's mainly used for, but I'm trying it as it's so simple, yet I'm also doing R.C.s as well. They can be used with anything, so why not do them? |
