      A different way to think.

See, normally, when you mantra/ auto-suggest, you'd say something along the lines of 'I will lucid dream' or 'a dream character will tell me i am dreaming'. But, you could be wording the mantra to make your brain think Lding is hard. try to word it differently. Think of lucid dreaming like something as easy as eating pie, and word your mantras as if you were gonna eat pie. Say something like 'I can't wait to [insert LD goal here]' or ' My LD will be so awesome tonight'

let me know what you think

I like the way you think! This is the way I do my mantras, but through visualisation. I'll say something like "I lucid dream every night!" and visualise my next dream goal and remember the feeling of a lucid dream.

I think confidence is definitely key in helping yourself gain a better hold on LDing, MILD is what has helped me get most (if not all) of my lucid dreams, and makes my recall through the roof!

Nice thinking! Here are some more:
      - Will I become lucid while I fall asleep or later in my dreams?
      - I'm curious what weird way would my subconscious come up with this time to force me to realize I'm dreaming.

Both suggestions imply that you're going to be lucid. They accomplish this by shifting the front of your conflict zone past the point you got yourself stuck at: "I need to / I have to become..." They also generate a sense of expectation.

It's a nice trick for your lucid toolbox but still just a trickery. If lucid dreaming does not come easily for you then you're in a state of inner conflict and no tricks will yield long term results until you figure out what's wrong.

It's better to go beyond thoughts bypassing the source of inner conflicts, self-doubt and frustration. My advice would be to try to operate from a purely feeling level instead.

Your idea sounds familiar. Psychics use taste assigned to a number to predict the future lottery results so they foretell the taste in the future since psychics cannot directly access the numbers being non-existent. And also I had some success with setting an immediate goal to fly to the destination in view there was no lucid dreaming mentioned in the intention but I became lucid in the dream to get to it. So I guess lucidity is a coverted way to get something that is impossible to do in real life but want it bad enough the mind will use lucidity (newly learnt tool) to get it.
