      WILD- Need help relaxing

Hey everyone, I just recently started to attempt Lucid Dreaming. I went out and bought a dream journal and I am starting to work on that. Unfortunately, my attempts are going very poorly. I am trying to combine the WBTB and WILD techniques, but after waking up at 3:30, looking around on this website for about 20 minutes, and attempting to do a WILD, but I go nowhere.
I relax as best as I can, I clear my mind, I focus on my breathing while counting "One, I am dreaming, Two, I am dreaming" and I will count for a ridiculous long time with nothing happening. I got up to over 200 this morning. No hallucinations, sounds, feelings (I did feel my hands go numb once, then I realized they just went to sleep) and I am beginning to feel frustrated. Does anyone have tip that can help me at least get deeper into a WILD? Thank you, and I am looking foward to being a part of this forum

My first attempt with WILD lasted to 800, before I eventually got tired and fell asleep.
Make sure you aren't trying too hard. The first time I entered sleep paralysis while aware was when I just woke up in the morning, I tried the WILD as a joke, but it came out semi-successful.

Firstly... don't get out of bed! The act of walking to your computer and cruising the Internet uses Beta brainwaves. Stay in bed... relax and visualize. Encourage those relaxing Alpha and Theta brainwaves. You will not WBTB if you awaken too fully. Good luck to you!

I heard somewhere that constantly checking to see if you are in SP is bad, too. If you keep testing it you probably won't get a successful WILD. (correct me if I'm wrong)

I'm pretty sure that's right. The main point of WILD is to fall asleep in the first place, so constantly worrying about whether you are in SP or not will keep your brain too active to even doze off. Try to not think about or worry about it too much, and just use an anchor. There are a few good tutorials on that here on the forums! Good luck on your next WILD
