      WBTB Without WILDing

Is WBTB easy not combined with other techniques? Like say I wake up, tell myself I will lucid dream, do a few reality checks, read a bit and go to bed. Would this work, or would I have to combine it with WILD or MILD?

WBTB - WAKE BAKE TO BED. It simply means waking up for a little while and then going back to bed. The way you describe what your doing is fine. What I do is wake up after 6 hours of sleep, use the restroom, do a few simple math problems and think about lucid dreaming. It takes about 10 minutes and is very effective.

It's very effective with all techniques, because you're taking time to think about LDing right before you go to sleep. It helps a lot with DILDs for me.

Thanks everyone. WBTB might be the ticket for me.

The general purpose of WBTB is to highten your awareness, thus increasing the chance to have a LD with every technique as Raphael said. I was was successful to have either a MILD and a WILD this way. A study conducted by the Lucidity Institute showed the chances of having a LD in relation to the amount of time being awake before going back to bed. The study showed that being awake for 30 or 60 minutes hightened dramatically the chances to become lucid ( especially 60), five times more compared to being awake for just 10 minutes. A real WBTB then takes that amount of time to become really effective.
