Nyquil contains doxylamine. This ingredient is considered a hypnotic. Hypnotics, including over-the counter ones, basically reverse the natural sleep process by shutting down neurotransmitters in our body first and not last. If our nerves are not communicating with one another then sleep soon follows. I have found that sleeping pills are not conducive to lucid dreaming (although I have had rare LD's on Ambien) . Tylenol PM uses diphenhydramine for sedation. These two drugs, Nyquil and Tylenol PM, will have different effects on the sleeper. Maybe one is better then the other for LD's? Just a thought. |
