      Hmmm Strange?

Hi friends, I've been trying to use The DEILD method to lucid dream for a few days now and i've noticed something strange. I usually naturally wake up early in the morning and decide to do the DEILD. I dont open my eyes and try not to move. I then try to become lucid and a little while later I'm in a dream but am not lucid? But the funny thing is that in my dream i am in the same room i fell asleep in. I dont normally dream about the room im in, but since i tried this method every time my dream seems to be in my room and i am conscious of what I'm doing but am not lucid?? any thoughts?

My suggestion to anyone having a problem LDing is simple to visualize a relaxing scenario while reminding yourself you will awaken in your dream. Also remind yourself that is it seems odd you are dreaming.

I don't understand. You don't realize that you are within a dream after you successfully DEILD? During a DEILD, you never lose consciousness. If the problem is you think you have failed, then you should perform a RC to see if you actually failed.

No, that's the thing i don't successfully DEILD. I would be lucid if i was to have DEILD'd successfully. What i'm trying to say is that when i wake up from having tried to DEILD i realize i was unsuccessful however when i recall my last dream, it has always been me in my room. I think i may be having false awakenings however it doesn't feel like a false awakening. Its something weird and this is the best i can explain it. Its like I'm in the dream but am on the borderline of dream/reality. i am thinking consciously but i'm in a dream not lucid?? LOL ill be amazed if someone could actually understand what I'm saying and if someone has experienced such a thing.

Yeah like Yoshi said, do an RC after the attempt. It sounds like you were definitely having a false awakening, it can feel really weird and all that, but just remember to do an RC. I have had times where I would get out of bed and turn on the light thinking about what I did wrong, before realizing I was actually dreaming. The whole "seeing through your eyelids" illusion can be kind of trippy. Always RC after everything.

Even if you lose consciousness, you should already be in the habit of RC-ing every time you're in your room, especially after getting out of bed.

Yeah, I'm thinking it is a false awakening as well. Try and get in the habit of RCing after waking up, any failed induction attempts, or if anything strange is going on, like seeing through your eyelids. Hopefully, you will be able to catch it next time.

Thanks for your replies. Amazingly, yesterday i felt a similar way but this time i decided to do a RC and realized i was dreaming! i became lucid! So you were right, i was most probably experiencing a false awakening without knowing. I normally have had this happen to me many times before but i never thought to do a RC. Thanks again

Awesome! False Awakenings are great ways to become lucid if you can learn to catch them.

Yh definitely. The way i caught the false awakening was crazy. I caught it inception style (don't know if you've watched the movie). In the movie some guy is in a dream but wakes up from it however he is still in a dream unaware. He falls on his carpet at his home and soon realizes that the carpet he is on isn't his own carpet. Instantly he realizes he is dreaming and says "I am still dreaming." What happened with me was that i was in my house and i was talking to one of the DC's. they started talking about something irrelevant and something they wouldn't say in everyday life. I automatically questioned and said that "I'm still dreaming." i then did i reality check to make sure and i was successful! The brain truly is a remarkable thing

Oh yeah, I have saw Inception. Indeed, the brain is quite remarkable. False awakenings are always very interesting to me. I remember having one where I tripped over something in my room and instead of falling, I just floated in the air, lol. A lot of times though, I'll have a FA and see that my room has been rearranged and catch it.
