      DEILD Problem...

I've been attempting to DEILD all week, but I've run into a problem. I can't remember when I wake up that I want to lucid dream!

My rather massive mantra of "I will be aware of waking after every dream, keep eyes closed, body still, and remember lucid dreaming." works up until the last part, well I think so at least. I have had DILD's the past two nights (which is CRAZY considering I had my first lucid like a month ago, even if the three only lasted a few seconds it's still great ).

Here is what happens: my mind wanders around for awhile then I usually rollover/ notice I have to use the bathroom then realize "Oh yeah, DEILD!" But by that time it's too late because I've been awake for too long and enter a normal dream after a what seems like ten or so minutes.

What do you guys do to not forget about lucid dreaming?

Well, for me as soon as I awake from a dream (without opening my eyes) I can tell I am awake and I start to DEILD immediately. It wasn't always this easy but it doesn't take much effort to master the techniques. I always seem to have lucid dreaming on my mind as soon as I wake up so I'm not sure why you wouldn't either. It just happens to be that right after I awake, I think damn...why wasn't I lucid? Time to DEILD. If you get up to use the bathroom or even rollover for that matter it kills your chances of DEILD. However, If you do get up to use the bathroom, try to WILD instead of DEILD.

Try a WBTB that's what I do. I sleep 6 hours then an alarm wakes me up and I go to the bathroom and then go back to my bed and affirm to notice my awakening and start doing indirect techniques (dream entry techniques), then I wake up and remember to use the indirect techniques and I have a lucid dream. Try that or only affirm to remember to DEILD and when you notice your awakening, which you probably will do because you have allready used that affirmation, you will remember to deild.

WBTB doesn't work for me, I have a hard time getting back to sleep. But I find in the early morning on days I can sleep in, I wake up, dream, wake up, dream, etc. This happened this morning about 4 times. I should have had a lucid though.
I have only had 2 DEILDs (on my 2nd one, I chained 3) but I am working on them almost solely. Drink half of a water bottle before bed, and sleep with a blind fold on. The water will wake you up in the middle of the night after each REM phase because you will have to go to the bathroom, the blindfold, you will feel it on your eyes and remember DEILD, and if you begin to see stuff you will know it is a dream because you have a blindfold on
      good luck

you could set a certain alarm for the middle of the night that turns off on its own. if you have a smart phone you can browse the app store for one that dismisses automatically (for the droid there is one called alarm clock xtreme). set an alarm that doesnt sound like your normal one, and train yourself so that when you hear it you think of DEILDing. but have it dismiss after like 5 or 10 seconds so you dont have to keep hearing it once you are trying to fall back asleep.
