Well when I learned about them I've never had a ld before (I didn't even remember any dreams). After 2 Weeks of messing around with RC's and failed Wilds I got my first unintentional Wild. It was amazing and after that I got about 1 Dild a Week. |

I think it would be helpful to all beginners (that includes me) to be able to estimate how long it usually takes to attain ludicity. Therefore, everyone please post how long it took YOU to get your first lucid dream from the moment you learned about them. Just an estimation would be enough. If a lot of people post their personal experience with this, it should give us an idea |

I read a book on LD'ing one night, Lucid Dreaming for Beginners by Mark McElroy, then the same night I had my first, but short-lived LD. I remember going to bed determined to have one. |

8 years! Woot! |
|
It took me slightly under two weeks. I have yet to have a second, though |

I had one LD when I was a little kid, but I didn't really start researching and learning about them until last year. It took me a couple of months to have a lucid dream after first learning about them. After really trying hard and thinking about it constantly all day and joining this site to ask about LDing, it only took 3 days for my first one. However, I've only had had 12 in over a year. |

3 weeks and waiting |

Thank you everyone. Judging from these posts, it usually takes a few weeks, but it's possible to take longer. Thanks everyone |

I've had LDs since i was 8, but i only used them to wake up from nightmares since i didn't know i could do anything... Kind of a waste... As far as since trying LDing, it took me about 2 1/2 weeks |

I had many lucid dreams before I even knew they were called 'lucid dreams' however, my first intended lucid experience took about 3 days to attain. I did this using a hypnosis CD. These days I use simple visualization techniques to LD. |

About a few months. I had my first on Christmas. |

I had my first one the night I learned about them. But over a year later and I've yet to be able to have them consistently. |

The 1st one I had was before I knew what they were. I just realized I was in a dream. That was about 5 years ago. I have them occasionally now, I did last night. |

Reality Check
Spoiler for lucid dream goals:
First lucid dream after a week. But then a month for my second and another month for my third. Then, steady progress as long as I was putting in the effort. |
