question about staying lucid

I have two questions. The first question is how do I stay in a lucid dream for more than like 20 seconds haha. I've only had one lucid that was like 2 minutes long but all my other ones are short. Last night I had multiple lucids but they were all short and in one of them, I remembered to use my senses. I ended up in the park behind my house and was right next to this big redwood tree and started feeling the tree, smelling it, and actually took a piece of bark and started chewing on it haha, but I woke up. But I woke up with bark in my mouth and put it on the ground in my room and then woke up again for real haha. In that lucid I used most of my senses but still the dream faded away. Also, I've been using visualization to become lucid, and this moring I was able to get 4 scenes to form by just visualizing. But my problem with this, is that I'll start to see the dream form, but once I'm almost fully in the dream, it just fades away. How do I keep the dream from fading away in this situation. For example this morning I started visualizing myself in a back of a jeep driving in a desert coming out of a valley and I started feeling myself in the back of the jeep and I could hear people screaming from excitement, bu then it faded away. I had this happen two other times this morning during different situations.

look at stuff. i don't mean just glance at things, i mean really focus. watch blurry things become clearer, and do this again if your dream becomes unstable. also DO NOT EVER stop thinking about what you're doing. if you do, you may forget you're dreaming. i've never had a succesful WILD before, so i can't help you with any issues relating to that stuff.

Its not like I got caught up in the dream, I just woke up. I think I need to try spinning, but I didn't even get a chance to do that because I just suddenly woke up. I mean I thought everything was cool because my dream became pretty stable after using my senses, but then I just woke up. I also have to stop trying to fly everytime I become lucid. I just need to focus on my surrounding first and once my dream is stable, then I'll try and fly.

Are you constantly thinking in the back of your head as the dream is happening that you will wake up? Chances are if you think you will wake up then you actually do wake up. This happens to me quite often. Try rubbing your hands together or grabbing onto something and focusing on an object and don't think about anything else that will cause you to wake up. It takes some getting used to. About visualizing something and entering a dream, the problem with this is that you either wake yourself up before you enter the dream or you fall asleep and therefore aren't lucid during the dream. It's kinda like a WILD but isn't easy to do right from the start. Just keep making it as real as you can but also keep yourself aware that you are dreaming as it will feel quite real and you will start to believe it is actually happening. -Chase

I think your right. I tend to always be thinking that I'll wake up, which in return causes me to rush to do something in the dream. I need to learn to stop, check out my surrounding, and wait to do something untill I feel I'm totally in the dream. And for the visualization, its worked everytime I've tried, its just that I can see the dream in front of me and sometimes I'm in it, but it just fades away. I think my problem is that when I see the dream forming in front of my eyes, I get to excited and I think about what's happening to much. I just need to let my mind take over and let it form.
